I am wanting (another) full sheepskin lined numnah (saddle shaped).. pref natural coloured or brown.. in a 17" saddle size... interested what your thoughts were on brands.. need something quality and preferably faily deep piled (not the thin ones) that will last and wash well, but not cost the earth..
any ideas?

Griffin NuuMed - look on their website - it shows all the range, sorry dont know it but you will find it if you google NuuMed. Excellent quality and lifespan, especially if you use their Nuwash to maintain it.

nuumed aren't particularly thick as they don't have the skin on the wool. However I really rate them.

Roma are excellent, thick and not expensive - look at equestrian clearance or surrey equestrian and wash really well too

Another vote for Nuumed. I think you can get the quilt in different weights (thicknesses) even though the wool doesn't have any skin. Mine have all washed and worn very well.

I had a Mattes - their Platinum range (basically the best they do) and absolutely loved it. They are brilliant (though not cheap)
Make sure you get sheepskin, and not merely wool which is knitted/woven into a backing material. they are rubbish and matt, looking dreadful.
I used to wash my Mattes half pad in special mild detergent for sheepskin (in the washing machine) then fluff it up whilst it was drying. it always looked like new, and never ever matted. I sold it recently as it didnt fit my new saddle.
My new saddle is a better fit, so i wont be buying another half pad. they look very smart, but i think at the moment more people are buying them as they are fashionable. I wonder how many people are making a saddle which normally fit perfectly, not fit perfectly because it has a thick wool pad underneath it ?

I absolutely love my LeMieux and so does my mare

probably far too many!
I have a close contact jump saddle, IMO too cc for everyday riding so prefer to use a thicker numnah and find that polypads just don't sit right on my mare!
