Sheepskin Poll Pad - Dressage Legal?

As per the title really, am looking at purchasing a sheepskin poll pad for my horse. She is grey, and the pad is black, however her bridle is a Micklem bridle in black, so already has a wide headpiece.

The BD rules state that 'discreet padding at the poll' is allowed. Would this be ok, has anyone done this?

White/cream sheepskin would only be more obvious as she is so white!

I use one and have never been pulled up pretty sure the sparkle sisters do too, though I'm happy to be corrected...

I used one (black on a bay) and a judge made me take it off. I had been to about 5 bd dressages before that and it had never been commented on. Guess it's luck of the draw!

I don't mind being asked to take it off, however I would hate to be eliminated because of it. It should be black and white (pardon the pun!) I would have hoped, but doesn't seem to be the way.

I could always send a picture to national office and ask if it's alright? She wears a black nosenet which she has been cleared for so surely this shouldn't be an issue.

I was looking at Equilove on FB earlier. They do knitted/crochet ones shaped for Micklem bridles, looked interesting.

Thank you, read that alright, however it's still quite unclear as to what discreet really means

I have heard that discreet means blending in, so white on a grey would be fine, or black on a bay. I suppose black for everything else, to go with the tack.

Basically, it shouldn't stand out and catch the eye at all.

I would have thought black would have made more sense regardless of colour of horse as the tack is black? Unless tack is brown of course...

I think natural or white sheepskin would stand out more on my grey as the poll area is normally black due to bridle.

Think I'll contact national office with a pic to be sure

its fine, black,white,cream,grey,brown on ANY colour horse. doesnt have to be same as horse or tack

honestly have seen international GP horses in white on bay horse,black on chesnut etc.

as long as its not pink or green etc you will be fine.

As a judge, discreet means not drawing the eye - so not fluorescent or double the size needed. Any normal sheepskin you would buy is fine. If a judge tells you otherwise argue. You wn't get eliminated as tack and dress issues are now being penalised with points deductions anyway - particularlly somthing that you are allowed to wear.
