Shocking! Poor horses

Yes, well that's Walkin' Horses for you. Unpleasant, especially as they are lovely chaps with excellent temperaments. Have to be to take all the ***** they do to 'em.

Shocking - I think I have ranted on here before about the abuse these beautiful horse's get. I was lucky enough to own a flat shod beauty of my own - they are renowned for their gentle and complaint temperament - half the reason these b*****s get away with it I think. High time the authorities in the States enforced the laws I think.

I usually try not to post stuff like this, but it really upset me.
I wish there was something I could do :(

EDIT: I would LOVE one. They're so gorgeous when they're not going an impression of a deranged hyena. Even then they've got such pretty faces, when you look past the anguish.

poor horses i cant even begin to understand any reason behind any of it completely unaceptable especially as the horses dont even seem to be doing anything wrong!

Seen this before too, those weight/chain/stilt things they strap onto them are disgusting  poor horses.

Sorry but that is absolutely disgusting.

Made me feel sick just watching it, people like that shouldnt be allowed anywhere near horses.

Please don't apologize for for writing that.

This is humans for you! Horrible, cruel, egotistical, cowardly, scum of the Earth!
They will do anything to win and take their frustration out on a totally defenseless animal. Why is it illegal to beat another human and not an animal? Humans like these deserve a good beating, they're no good for anything else.

Those who think humans are 'better' than animals watch this horror and say it again!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

This demonstrates the cold truth of human greed - in any discipline, be in horse, dog, cat, hamster anything. People do this to get money or to be looked upon as a perfectionist - as they have nothing else in their lives worth anything. So need to try and prove themselves as they are worthless and useless doing anythign else and wouldnt have the bottle or skill to control employees etc

It is very sad and sick. yet it happens with any sport, be it our classic dressage, racing, quarter horse shows and this. It is such a shame that humans put themselves on a pedistal and anything else on this planet can be treated how ever we see fit. Chuck him in a field of horses with nothing to protect him,...lets see how long he lasts.

I nearly turned it off. That was unbelievable. Was that poor horse that was being beaten whilst laid on the floor squealing?

I so hope that the scum and his sycophants/cohorts get what they deserve but I doubt it. Anyway, nothing will make up for the suffering of those poor horses.

Just goes to show what can go on behind closed doors.

I just watched it again with sound (I tend to watch stuff without sound) and I wish I hadn't :( it makes it all the more sickening when you can hear the lashings.

urgh i had to turn it off...couldnt watch it.
thats disgusting :'( there is absolutely no need for that...all your gonna get is a terrified animal....so much for improved performance!!!!!! :( :( :(

You do realise that if the feet were just padded and chains that would be a godsend for these horses. There are things in the pads of the shoes to cause more soreness. And the applying chemicals of the leg beyond the chains.

ABC is huge. That show was countrywide in Prime Time. People like Pepsi have pulled out as sponsors for the big Celebration show and I'm sure more will follow. So yes people are trying to do something about this horrific abuse.

What gets me is that it's more than trainers. Farriers shoe these animals and vets treat them. The public pay to go to these shows. It absolutely must be stopped. It is beyond horrific.

I am really hoping that trainer ends up in jail and gets what he deserves while in there. You know what I mean. Let him have it boys. Won't help his horses but he deserves it.

So please stop thinking things are trying to be sorted. People are doing something. FYI, CNN did a piece in the 80's that nobody really picked up on. Now with the information age things will change.

Jesus. Serious self control going from the news guy - I don't think I'd be able to go anywhere near him without pelting him with a pole.

Just sat staring at a blank screen for five mins trying to compute what I'd just witnessed. If it were legal i could easily kill anyone I saw treating an animal that way. On that note I have to say we may all slate some rescue organisations but it just made me realise what utter restraint you would have to have when facing an owner like that... I wouldn't have been able to controll my reaction to that scum!!!

The horse laying down and being beaten made me cry :( Absolutely horrific.

I've seen expose' videos of the chains, chemicals and other things they use on the feet, but they appear to have had no effect. WHat I don't get is why people think the horses look good, moving like that, holding themselves rigid with the pain. It's vile. Poor horses :(

 that is disgusting!!

I'm glad that it has been highlighted and as Equilibrium Ireland says big corporations like pepsi are pulling sponsorship.

I think the public who go to see the shows (races?) don't really realise (or think) about what goes on behind the scenes. You would just assume that the way the moved was natural.

As for the other professionals (farriers etc) then they are as bad as the owners. I am sure there are some great breeders/owners/trainers out there and those are the ones that need to be "bigged up" alongside those that treat their horses with such cruelty be dealt with in uncertain terms. Corporal punishment anyone?

Thank you for posting that Nah. I had NO idea (at least about the Tennessee Walking Horses). It made my blood run cold, and then I wanted to kill that fat slob - couldn't get behind his non-shutting gate fast enough, could he?

I just hope a nice big ultra-security gate slams rather more efficiently behind him in the not-too-distant future - and that his horses are all confiscated. thank goodness ABC are airing the story. They've got clout!
