I'm not going to watch it - But I would report it at least. That way at least others wont take pleasure or try and reenact it out.

xx

its really not that bad, how they get the horses to do it may not be pretty though,

what i want to know is what is on the horses legs!

It looks like they are hobbled to me, and then made to 'dance'.

It reminds me a bit of the things they put on the Tennessee Walking horses - and that is in 'civilised' America!!

It looks like some kind of hobble on one - on the Tennessee Walking horses they use acid and allsorts of vile things to make the skin sore to exaggerate the action - possily the same here.

I read somewhere there is some sort of spike inside the boots that jab when leg is down hence the need to keeplifting them

yeah i thought hobbles but there not looking at a few of the other vids its either decoration.. or something more sinister

This has come up before on HHO.

Just because it's different doesn't means its wrong. Hell of a lot more wrong doing going on in dressage, racing and showjumping to name a few.

although the video may look shocking, the horses all look very well cared for. they look fit and healthy and they have no scars of woulds. which is more than i can say for some working horse in the world. if you look closely, you can see small notes of money being thrown on the ground. so i guess this is a way of earning money. although i dony agree with what is going on, i do fully appreciate that different cultures have different views and methods of the way they work there horses. im sure i would rather see heathy, well fed horses doing this, then see them skin and bone, being whipped to pull or carry a load that they clearly have not got the energy left to do.

my friend was shocked at this video, and i said they horses are not underweight though, and that if the things on their legs were barbed wire or something similar, the blood would show on the horses coat.

I suppose what you dont see is what happens previous to this display!

Also i just watched a much more horrifying video regarding a rodeo and a horse that didnt want to buck and just lay in the starting pen thing, and got taser, stabbed etc etc but would not get up!! Horrible!!

No whats wrong with you people? its cruelty at its highest they dont use spikes on displays only in training and would love to see how they reacted if they were in pain everytime they put their legs down

Can`t honestly see a great deal of diference between this and the training demonstrated by The Spanish Riding School!

The Indian horses look a bit more stressed for sure, but they also look like prized possessions too that are well cared for.

I think people maybe are objecting because it is unfamiliar to them.

Its not nice I agree, but I think its no more abusive than many circus animals /horses receive and perhaps on a par with Rodeo horses and performance horse training of various kinds.

Don't start me on rodeos... I've been commenting on a video on Youtube and just because I've told it as it is I've been called an ignorant tw*t and a bigot (she's American

). Trying to get the thick beatch to understand that I was only commenting on what had been posted really wasn't getting through.

I was very clever in getting the last word though....!

I have seen this before but on a horse that was just tied under a tree..... the music was playing and the horse was dancing
smile.gif
(poss associated with training I suppose).

I dont know how they train them but some of the horses seem to have a natural aptitude.

My friend travels to India and is invited to stay with the locals on a regular basis.... she certainly would not stand for any cruelty.

The Marawi horses are prized and cherished posessions for sure..... and well looked after too.

This certainly isnt a good video, it does look like cruelty.... but as has been said before, in other sports we only see the finished result... and not the training of the horse. Worse can happen in our own country.

It's their culture so be careful not to slag it off as it will be misconstrued.

At least the horses looked healthy.

Did the lounge seating come from DFS, their always having a sale.

These are normally stallions and come out on special occasions ie. weddings, they wear bells round there legs and "dance" to the music. They are highly prized!

ermmm yeah bank holiday weekend.

Yeah I've never seen anything like it before and with the chains etc, it looked pretty shocking! But suppose you are right, there is prob worse going on here then there is in them countries....

If this is a wedding though, why is just all men??

The yahoo answers piece said the dancing horses appear at a lot of festivals, not just weddings. Even if it is a wedding, at Muslim weddings the men and women have separate ceremonies and parties so wouldn't mix.

Looking at the videos, at worst the horses look distressed and as if their hocks could give way at any moment. At best, it looks like slightly clumsy long reining (e.g. attempting passage without really knowing how to, in contrast to the Spanish riding school vid). There's another youtube video that comes up at the end with some impressive "dancing" at the start - the worry is how do the train the horse to do that? There's also a bizarre move where the horse is crouched down and dancing with his front legs. It looks painful to watch, I can't imagine what it does to the joints.

The horses look lovely though and very well cared for. As others have said, I think there are far worse cases of cruelty to be worried about, including in the sub-continent.

Some appeared less concerned than others. Not the most pleasant thing, but compared to the clip on the US show horses, I found it less of the two evils. The US show horses treatment is truely terrible, at least these did not appear to have tails cut and feet covered in chains and weights.

It is maybe best described as not that different to what spanish riding school/circus horses and even some dressage moves but done on a more crude level.

The horses look well cared for, and if I had to give money to a cause, there are many more deserving around in terms of cruelty and neglect.

I find the response to these videos shocking tbh. The horses are well fed and in good condition, considerably better than many in this country. They earn their own living, and that of the handlers/owners, by dancing at weddings. Was the comment about spiked boots made from knowledge or assumption? How many trainers use dubiouse methods in the western world? I think if this had not been in pakistan there may have been a different reaction from some posters!
