Maybe one of your liveries has some tools?

If not what about your Dad you basically need a hammer and some sort of pliers, I think I have even used the handle of a spoon to lift clenches before.

No the shoe had come off one side of his hoof and he stepped on it so it’s on the inside of the hoof wall

I bought myself a few tools to remove shoes in an emergency. I've watched my farrier for years doing it so had some idea. We've always got wire cutters too as we do have some wire as fencing.

In fact the tool collection at the fields is better than what we have at home?. (husband not a fan of DIY).

I got a cheap kit off ebay and the farrier helped/supervised me remove a few shoes so I felt competent to do this in an emergency.

I would recommend this for the future.

For tonight, I would call any large yard nearby and ask for their mercy.

ETA- this isn't mine but is similar. It is a starter kit. My farrier donated a few items. It has meant I can remove and shape, as well as tighten a loose clench.

Not proper but we grinded the shoe off the clenches were too embedded in his hoof to straighten them out enough to get shoe off
Thanks for everyone’s advice will get the farrier to show me how for next time

I hope this was a good outcome.

For anyone reading that it might be useful, vets can pull shoes if you are unable to attend to it yourself/ cannot get your farrier in an emergency.

Every yard should have a set of these in the tack room, if liveries clubbed together it's only a few pounds each.

Everyone with a shod horse should be able to remove a shoe.
I remember my farrier years ago taught me. Then on future visits if he had lots of time he'd drink tea whilst watching me remove shoes.

Pulling shoes is ALOT harder than it looks, especially when they’re like this one and not really hanging off. Well done OP on getting something sorted.

Ha yes, or even when they're already on the way out...last time I had to remove one it took me and our YO both heaving on one of his hind legs with the hoof pliers. Poor horse was bemused by this total lack of skill and just stood there peering at us. We got it off eventually but there's definitely a knack to it!
