Does such a thing exist? I can only find waterproof fly sheets that are combo rugs.

He's an awkward size too; right in between 6ft3 and 6ft6.

Does anyone know of a rug that would fit the bill? He has fly sheets and rain sheets but need something so that he isn't eaten alive (sensitive chestnut ?) or soaked to the skin (scottish summer ?).

I'm drawing a blank ?
TIA ?

I use the aussie all-rounder. Not sure about waterproof but heavy shower proof with a detachable neck. They are true to size for my boys.

Aussie allrounder is light shower resistant but not waterproof. I find them useful.

Bucas sun shower is a bit more heavy duty and will stand up to more rain but not what I would call fully waterproof.

Both come with detachable necks

I have the horseware summer series. The neck is detachable. I found it comes up small so go for the bigger size.

Thanks for the replies ?

He's got an aussie all rounder already so was looking for something a bit more waterproof than that.

His normal flysheet is a Weatherbeeta and hes got their cotton summer sheet too as a swap for the all rounder.

The WB rugs and all rounder are 6ft3 but this year are a bit tight (why is he still growing at 9??) over his shoulders. I bought a 6ft6 bucas buzz off and it drowns him. Thanks for the hint about the summer series sizing, I shall investigate!

He's not a fan of necks, is a hot horse and is allergic (& attractive) to every biting thing going so summer* rugging is a nightmare.

*Scottish summer for all that it is!

Thanks again ?

I bought this one recently https://www.derbyhousestore.com/Joh...tant-Fly-Rug/dh51220181.htm?colour=Navy+Stone

It's showerproof at least, and the front is a bit adjustable (buckles and a clip)- not super expensive and in my opinion reasonable quality for the price, so may be worth a try?

If it helps, I have it on a 14hh pony who's a bit narrow in front and the 5'9'' is a tiny bit large on him, but usable.

Thanks, that the only standard neck that I found but I worried it was more rainsheet than fly sheet.

It is something for hotter/muggy days when the flies are bad but there are rain showers. The all rounder and sheet are fine but in the rain he gets soaked through and they take longer to dry than a mesh rug with a waterproof back panel.

If the summer series are better for cooler days they might be too warm for Mr Hot Potato

Why is nothing simple ??

Mine is out overnight at the moment, but he is quite a warm horse and prone to sweating up- it's quite lightweight but I probably wouldn't put it on in the daytime when it's muggy!

Not much help, I know!

That does help, thank you. I think it'll be too warm.

If there could just be a plague for midges that didnt affect other species or mean that they would starve that would be great ??

I would very much appreciate that plague. Both me and the pony are quite reactive to them!
