me and my friend are looking to move yards, i have 2 horses, she has 1, 2 stables have become available at a yard very local to me, and ticks all my boxes, however im not sure if i should take them as it would leave friend out, and she has been up to chat to YO already but not confirmed she wants a stable yet....im going up today to have a look around, but if i like it there i dont know whether i should reserve the stables for myself? or if that is being harsh? although she has hinted she would move despite there being no place for me there...confused as to what i should do!

You have to do what is best for you and your horse. If it would mean that without her you wouldn't ride so much or get out as often then it might be worth a rethink (if riding out is a priority for example) but then I presume there will be others to ride with at the new yard?

Having planned a yard move and agreed a new place I then realised that if I moved I would end up doing far less riding. The stables were nicer and the place was quiet and picturesque but I would have spent less time in the saddle as there would have been nobody else there to push me on and get me out (I lack confidence sometimes). Now I see that priorities for me when considering a yard are mainly safety for mare and other people keen to ride who will encourage me.

If this new place has everything that you want then you should go for it whether your friend can be there or not. It sounds like you want to go there.....

If you need two stables then I would take them. Chances are another stable will come up before another two will.

Talk to your friend about it though so she doesn't think you're going behind her back.

you will maybe struggle to find a place with 3 stables available. In light of the above if you like the place then You should reserve the 2 stables and tell your friend to put her name on the waiting list for the next one.

From what you say above, iT sounds like she would move without you if it came to it
