Am I right in saying there are different types of spaniels? Could someone explain them to me please? (Referencing to some of the bootiful spangles above if possible!) xxx

I can't believe you would ask such a thing of me OP, you know how much I hate putting pics of Hen up However...

Flamehead, Hen is a Cocker, while Flyn (for ex.) is a Springer. The two breeds are closely related as originally they were the same breed, and pups would be separated by size - the big ones would 'spring' game (so Springers) and the little ones would be used for hunting Woodcocks (so Cockers). They have since developed into two different breeds. Further to that, you also get show and working types in both breeds - Henry is a show cocker, while Ruby is a working cocker - so she has less feather and more working drive. I don't think we have any show springers pictured on this thread, but I believe they differ from the working Springers in the same ways.

You can also get Brittanys (which I think is what Katielou Houston has), Field Spaniels, CKCSs and doubtless also many other varieties

In addition, the springers are split into working springers - (like purdey is) and show springers which are bigger, stockier and have longer ears.
There are also Welsh springer spaniels which I don't know lots about but they are red and white (I think!)

Gorgeous dogs, my OH is obsessed with them and really wants one, he used to have one and is begging me to get another but we already have 3 dogs and I think a spangle pup would be too much to take on
