Grey number 1 was in the pre-digital age so I don't have any photos I can add of him. He was an overgrown section A who was actually 13hh.
Grey number 2, Archie, looking remarkably clean. I think this must have been the first naked day of Spring one year.

he normally looks like this

Grey number 3, Monty (share horse) Less of a mud monster and the fleabites made it easier to hide dirt

After 3 greys I was determined not to have any more..... meet Charlie.

I'm desperate for a photo of M, A and C together but M is still beating C up and C is still too terrified to get very close so it's not happening yet. They're fine in the field as long as C doesn't try to get close to A. M won't let anyone get between him and his Archie. I have managed to get A&C together though while M was being ridden.

I hate to be “that” person but please get some proper riding boots and/or safety stirrups. The way your foot is pushed through that stirrup makes me shudder to think if you ever had an accident and got dragged (seen it happen and it was horrific).
They are lace up Mark Todd yard jodhpur boots. Not trainers. With chaps. It was on a long distance 15 mile ride. And I only have a dressage saddle. So long stirrups. So not ideal to jump in. So position of the leg is wrong. Had no intention of jumping. There were optional XC jumps. And I had a go of jumping one of the fences. Agree it’s a terrible position. Spur on the moment, pop of log.

I like this one of dappled grey in dappled sunlight

I wonder how long it will take for merlin to start to fade, as he’s been dappled since age 5 - he’s 8 now....do they all go completely white eventually or do some hold onto the dark grey? His legs have some very black areas. His dad who i saw a pic of heavily dappled, yet he turned pure white!

Some grey out more quickly but the vast majority will end up losing their grey - that doesn't necessarily mean completely white though. Fleabitten is actually the final stage of greying out so many will go white then develop fleabites. Archie was white by the time I got him at 9 and at 25 is only just starting to get fleabites. Monty was 15 before all his grey bits went white but he's never been completely white as the fleabites started developing before he lost the grey, he skipped the white stage. At 6 Charlie's body is a fairly light grey but his legs mane and tail and hind quarters are all still really dark and he's starting to show some fleabites too so I'm hoping he'll skip the completely white stage too.
This is Monty through the ages to give you an idea.

Charlie at 6 - lighter body but darker mane, tail and legs than Monty at a similar age. You can see the fleabites developing on his face.

ahhh..i didnt realise fleabitten was a stage too...i thought it was either fleabites or dapples. Never realised they could show up after greying out to almost pure white - fascinating!
Merlin’s always had a fleabitten face, with dapples on his body. He’s only just fading from having a strawberry roan coloured dapples, yet the face fleabites are still strawb. roan in places.
His winter coat for so many years came through ginger! The first year when he shed that and i saw dapples was quite a shock! Since then he’s held the dapples. I truly never knew greys changed so much!
