Has else anyone found themselves doing things you'd never be able to explain to a non-horsey person?

Today for example I was talking to my laptop in a low soothing voice as it froze, and promptly rewarded it with a "good boy!" when it started working again!

What are your 'weird' habits that you've brought from horsey time into everyday life?x
 
I hip check or click and say over whenever OH is in my way.
Dog responds to "walk on" and "steady".
I've been known to lean forward when driving uphill and will pat when we drive past something spooky.
Oh and I always carry bags/hold the dog lead with my little finger under.
 
My children respond to being clicked at to hurry up. Or whistling at them for attention when we're out in public. Other mothers tend to look on in disgust!
 
I caught myself wondering if I shouldn’t make it wait at a junction even if it was clear as it might get into a bad habit of not wishing to wait.

It being my car :o

Oh my goodness! I lean forward when I'm driving the lorry up a hill. Someone asked me why the other day and I just sat up and said I wasn't 😂

Reaching into my blazer pocket for a biro and withdrawing a handful of stale pony nuts ;
Telling random animals /people to, "tck-tck, walk on." ; realising the only nice clothes you own are school ones - with everything else invariably covered in holes and hay; when responding to an injured friend, "ummm, stick a bit of purple spray on it." ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ what can I say, I have very tolerant friends(!)

lol had a riding crop in my school bag the other day! Try explaining that to the school librarian when you're looking for overdue books! :lol:
 
I call the lorry a 'good girl' when she gets up a hill too, as well as a pat! :D

The dog responds to horse commands and I have often told students at school to 'stand!' or 'whoa!', dependent on what we are doing... ;)
 
walking through town on the way to the stables in full riding gear with a whip... the barista in a coffee shop said he'd give me a free coffee if i hit his friend with it... i declined :P

and clicking at friends to make them move faster
 
I click at everyone and everything, especially when they are in my way! I hold the dog lead like reins and my comfy position holding the steering wheel is also like holding reins! I always pat my car and say good boy but I thought that was normal ;)

My dog knows exactly what I mean when I click at her even though I could be asking one of several things, she just seems to know, lol!
 
Back up with dogs is one.

Walking the dogs this morning I was running through prelim 14 (trying to memorise it) and found myself doing little turns and a funny wiggle motion whilst visualising trot trot trot! Luckily the dogs are used to me!
 
I click at everything - including the car. Also said 'steady' to the car when it was a bit wet on the road the other day.

OH asked me whether I was going to give him a carrot the other day. Apparently 'good boy' wasn't the thanks he was looking for when he unloaded the dishwasher. I think he should count himself lucky he wasn't told he was a clever pony.

Thank god I'm not alone with the car stuff :p
 
I click at people, dogs and parrots, which resulted in a feedback loop of the cockatiel learning to make clicking noises and sometimes managing to make the dogs get up and move when they're sitting in 'his' room!

I hold dog leads and handles on shopping bags like reins.

I'm not easily bothered by blood or injuries which normally means I get to be first aid person when I'm doing work at the sports clubs.
 
I half halt my boyfriend when we're walking together - to get him to slow down when he's getting ahead of me! Just a little squeeze on the arm to keep him in check! Haha!
