Our wee Section D x Exmoor mare spooks at the following:
(she also squeaks when she spooks!)

Drains
Her shadow on the road when out hacking
Starjumps (but only when i do them)
My Dad
Yesterday i bent down to put the bottom bolt on her door across, she stuck her head over to sniff at my back. I of course didnt realise and stood up once id done, cue snorting, squeaking and running to the back of her stable.
Once last summer my sister decided she wanted to jump her, but with it being so hot the school was rock solid. In our infinate wisdom we took a couple of watering cans and a rake to two areas of the school to set up a couple of jumps.
Well... would she go near either of the jumps? No chance, why? because the sand was a darker colour where it had been watered and raked....

Sorry!

He's not the only one - look further back on the thread - although sheep racism and racism against shetlands appears to be more popular, granted

oh gosh this post has made me laugh...

When I got River EVERYTHING in the world was petrifying - which was hilarious, but the funniest was always when he'd spook at me sneezing - I do have a stupid sneeze but he'd be fine if it was in the stable/I was on the ground, but if I was riding him - well he'd have to run hell for leather.

My friends mare would spook at it too - unfortunatly it meant an ungraceful dismount for her once as we were both laughing so hard...

Luca - so far seems totally unflappable but I am sure that will change next week. When we had the snow he didn't like the straw that had been put on the paths to create walkways - even though he's bedded down on straw! Only time he's spooked...

my big lad spooks at tyre marks in the snow, these can NOT under any circumstances be stepped on they must be lept over to save being eaten by the scary grey/brown snow, he is also scared of minature ponies
flash spooks all the time at things that were there but arent now, things that appear over night, tree stumps, different coloured leaves/grass, dressage markers, birds, cows, pony eating demons hiding round corners/under bushes, the list is endless, his last major spook was at a magnum wrapper hiding in the hedge
havana doesnt like sheep with black faces, all white ones are fine, lambs are the devils spawn-especially when they are climbing on the feeders, the ground being different colours, hens, other horses when they are in the arena and we are trying to go past, bikes, cars, tractors, men with beards, buggies, but she is a welshie
