Silliest thing you've done to cause yourself an injury

Gosh this is so embarrassing.

OK time to 'fess up. I actually fell off a horse when the beastie was standing still (oh gosh the shame - blushes).

What happened was that I needed to post a letter through someone's letterbox whilst I was out for a ride - and leaned down to do so, but leaned too far and overbalanced, and off I went - sprawled over and fell right into a potted alabaster shrub thing which BLEDDI hurt!!! Was black and blue for quite a while from that too.

How stoopid can you get???

I can top that . . . I actually punched myself in the face IN MY SLEEP - woke me up (naturally) but good God I felt stupid.

P

I used to have a light above my bed and would run my fingers around the rim of it because I found the noise and motion calming (and I liked the challenge of not burning them when it was on or had just been turned off!). This was fine whilst I was awake, but I would do it if I woke up in the night until I went back to sleep, when my had would drop straight on my face. I woke up the first couple of times, after that I slept through it! Fortunately I don't generally bruise, so I just looked like I had bags under my eyes most of the time.

I smashed my bike, and me, up quite badly after discovering that I needed to turn the handlebars to turn a corner, not use my legs to push it round like I did on my pony, ended up in a ditch still travelling at speed with the wheel turned when it hit a rock and bucked me off before landing on me. Broken wrist (straight through one bone, hanging on by a thread on the other), arm badly cut from elbow to wrist (other arm thankfully), punctured knee, and major nose bleed where I'd hit the ground face first! Not an injury, but fairly stupid, whilst my arm was in a cast I would put it under my pillow then put my head on it, or just under the duvet and use the cast as a pillow. Once I had the cast off I carried on doing that and it would cut the circulation off. I found that when I woke up with a numb, swollen arm, the least painful method of regaining circulation was to hold my hand up and try to wriggle my fingers. One night I did this and all was fine for a few minutes, then I felt a faint tickling, then a bit harder, using the hand that was working I felt around for what was tickling me, and screamed when I found another hand in my bed. Eventually I worked out that I had slept on my other arm so long that I didn't have control of it to hold it up, and circulation was returning where I was no longer lying on it, so my fingers started to wiggle. I had been tickling myself!

I've done the catching a sharp knife one as well, and no idea how I did it, but I managed to shut my nose in the car door! I don't even have a big nose!

Horse related - got my head stuck between pony and the door frame when he had a scratch when I was younger. Also stood on a bucket to mount pony bareback, but I hadn't put the bucket on flat ground, I had one leg over the pony's back and was just pushing off with the other leg when the bucket wobbled and fell over, I ended up sat against a fence post with a grazed back and a confused pony.

I've remembered another one! I was standing outside Dylan's stable and I sneezed, he heard the noise and came over to investigate ... I sneezed again and headbutted him right between the eyes as I didn't know he was there! I saw stars and my legs almost went from under me, I don't know which one of us was more upset - he wouldn't let me anywhere near him for over an hour, poor horse :P
