Inspired by a lovely picture on the photo thread.
I have never fed any of my horses bananas.
I don’t eat them. Mr M does.

Questions
Do you feed the peel?
If you can.
Mr M usually eats a banana for breakfast after I have left for the yard.
Is it safe to feed the peel on my next visit?
Which may not be the following day.
Thanks

My old companion pony has had a banana every evening for several years now without the peel, however the way we discovered that she liked bananas was that she nicked my husbands banana off the outside window ledge of her stable where he had left it to eat later and ate the lot, peel and all. My little competition mare now has decided that she likes bananas, so she has one each evening minus the peel.

Friend's old horse adored them and would eat the whole thing happily. My old horse thought they were the work of the devil and refused to have anything to do with them.

Neither of the new horses seem fussed either way, although mine has now discovered that he quite likes the odd Stud Muffin.

Is that because you or your horse don’t like them?
It's because I don't like them. I can't bear to look at them and I have to remove myself from the room if there is a banana there. If I see someone eating one it makes me sick, if I see a banana skin on the floor or in a bin it makes me sick, if I smell an unpeeled banana it makes me sick. If I know a banana has invaded a fruit bowl I can't eat the other fruit because yep it makes me sick. If I see someone on TV eating a banana, heyup it makes me sick. Totally irrational and ridiculously over the top stupid I know but there you go.

My horses have never eaten not will they ever eat a banana because it will probably make me sick 🤢

I often fed Bails bananas and always peeled them first. The only time she had one whole peel and all she colicked. So i never did again.

Lari has something different from Aldi every week. Three weeks ago bananas. Two weeks ago it was cucumber, last week sweet potato, this week spinach. And always carrots and apples too.

The only thing he hates and spits out are soft mints, he can't bear them!

Mine love all fruit, havent tried more exotic fruit yet tho! Bananas without peel they love…i wasnt sure whether peel is safe to feed, despite them trying to nab that too!

The mare loves celery, but the boy doesnt, except the leafy tops.
Celery was given for silica for tendon strain for the mare…she really loved it!

Well it really would make me sick. I am highly allergic to them. Will not have them in the house.

I tried feeding a banana to Skye, the way she reacted to it you’d think it was a gun, not a banana.
Theo loves bananas, I used to peel them but now feed them skin on.

Strange timing! Mine was insistent on eating a banana peel that another girl at the yard had in her hands yesterday. Gave him a piece for which we thought he ate but about 5 mins later spit it out and decided he wanted more. So according to my horse, banana peels are for chewing and spitting out but not fully eating!
