Came across the Friday showjumping pictures from Blair - a lack of 'go' resulted in some rather exuberant Bonzo 'bounces' to say the very least. Of particular giggle value is the 4th one in I believe, where my ass is aproximately two counties out the saddle! What we lacked in style we made up in enthusiasm, it's funny because the video doesn't look nearly as hairy as the pictures suggest lol...

Think there's about 5 or 6 shots - think the photographer was having a right old giggle at me! Hope they give you all a laugh, and don't you think it looks pretty strong for a Discovery?

Tell you what though, if he can keep springing off the ground like that but with a bit more style and control I'm onto a winner! I just thought the pic with my ass miles out the saddle was hysterical - sooo nearly bought it just to laugh at it forever more...

Luckily he scooped me up at the other side Nic, bet you could photoshop poles into that pic and make it quite convincing looking! Thing is, you saw the video and it looked like a big pop, but not quite that bad lol...

Bless him, that 4th pic is very funny! I am either suffering from "I'm not jumping it, so it looks ok"-itis or gone a bit funny in the head, because I thought the Discos at Blair looked ok... :o Admittedly, I don't look at SJs with any sort of technical awareness though, just "does that spread look mahoosive"! :o

Bonzo obviuosly wants to jump Newcomers though, not piddly Disco...! :D

I really didn't think it looked overly big at the time, but in the pics it looks strong enough - got shots of '1.05m' classes with smaller looking oxers lol! Would hope to get a Newcomers in before the tail end of the year, just depends on how much improvement I can make to his flatwork though as a wobbly grounding really shows once you get to 1.10m! He's definitely happier in his mouth now (typical bloody animal would like the expensive bit I hired to try grrr!), the 'smiling' and head tipping now seem to be cheeky evasion instead of possible discomfort and even those episodes are getting fewer and further between so fingers crossed!

Ha ha, what a diva opting for the pricey bit! ;) Worth it if it works?! I'm sure the flatwork will come on leaps and bounds (like the jumping?! :p ) once he gets the idea. When you think how much he's come on in the last 3 months, then the next 3 months should be pretty exciting. :)

Oh he's a diva alright - likes to let the whole showground know he's on site kicking hell out the lorry... The last 3 months have gone by in a flash, it's hard to believe that I first sat on him in June and now we're discussing jumping Newcomers! Fingers crossed the flatwork will come, we're getiting more nice 'moments' now - just needs to be a bit more supple and relaxed - mission impossible?

wow weeeeee what you guys fly!! :D

well impressed those oxers look huge! its like he has spings instead of hooves!! :D Newcomers here you come, velcro pants might be necessary as suspect you will be clearing foxhunter height over 1.10m!

FJ - you are def getting brave, look at the scary coloured poles! you definately doing BE novice now! :D

Kez- I think it's because Bonzo is jumping them as if they are 1.20m that they look so big! ;) I compared it to Hopetoun SJ (eg here) and I think Hopetoun was same, if not a hole bigger! :o (although we get a couple of nice small uns to get us going on BE courses at least!) I must remember that on Sat when attempting BN...!

lol FJ you are right those fences at hopetoun were huge! you are very brave too its just me thats the wuss!! where can i buy those springs for horses cause i think Hopalong def has them too! :D

P.S - kez just bought a pony! :D

P.S - kez just bought a pony! :D

Congratulations! :D You can't say that and then not post a new thread with pics/info...!

:D

Pick HIM up? Did I read that right? Wooooohooooo you did it! We NEED pics ASAP! When do you pick him up?

FJ I said at the time that the SJ at Hopetoun looked rather on the strong side to say the least - it was at least 1.05m by the pics, no excuses for you to go Novice! You'll just need to get a few Newcomers under your belt before the start of the new season, we should coordinate our schedules so B & H have their first hurl round on the same day so we can walk the course and oooh and aaargh together!xx

Ah... but although there were a few meaty 'uns, you get a couple nice ones to start you off at least with BE... BSJA just whack 'em all up max height/width from the off!

Will try come through for a joint venture on the West coast sometime though. :)

ooo if you come through for a jaunt can i come too?? pretty please! not promising i will jump anything though but i can pole lift and take humerous photos :D (photos will be humerous as i i am rubbish at taking them!)

JenB- will send you a sneaky pic!! better post to follow once he arrives :)

I just don't understand you eventers lol! Miss H would eat Discoveries for breakfast, get your finger out! You must come through to Rowallan or Ingliston for some SJ one day though, delight in the joys of freezing your ass off in a cold shed for hours courtesy of the good old BSJA...

K get that pic across pronto, glad you made the decision you did - hope it all works out and you have tons of fun with him!xx

By the end of the year Kez will most def have her fab new pony in tow! We should actually try to arrange a wee HHO session at Rowallan to do clear rounds one day if we can all arrange time off etc - we could all have a play then have some lunch, bet a few folk would be up for it!

FJ - not sure about me managing BS lol my limit is 70 cm opens!! then at least the first few jumps are more like BE showjumping :D

it is mad isnt it how we dont mind big stonking logs but poles are another matter! i know i have def jumped bigger xc than i ever sjed Izzy!

J - have sent you a pic :D hope you like! ooo i like the idea of a clear round day, then i can do little fences!!!

Tell us more about the clear round days, sounds good. And food always good! (I don't do Gamebird's starvation method of competing, although maybe I should as she has more frillies than me...!

)

Kez- I am the same, have jumped plenty big enough XC fences, but still wibble about scarey fally downy poles (TM Nic!) that are smaller than the XC fences!

Have had a look and Rowallan/Ingliston are pretty much the same distance away for me, would take just over an hour according to Google maps. Might need to be start of next year though as have most of this year planned out already and on hol last two weeks of Nov. :)

Rowallan do them on tues wed and thurs most weeks, you basically just turn up and pay £20 for 3 clear rounds then get use of the big arena to do them in, any height you like. It is good when you really knock it off and it is quiet as its like getting to hire it for yourself!

Then there is lovely grub in restaurant for reward food after :D best bit

We should def arrange it :)

Well we should plan ahead and agree a date at some point either late this year or early next year, give Kez the chance to bond with the new boy (who is scrummy by the way!), Nic the chance to get pony fit and the rest of us no excuse to get holidays put in at work! Really it'll be an excuse for a gab and a feed, but I think it would be good to have a team work out as well!

Joss might come up for a play though it's a bit of a trek, BabyBear might want to come along and Tricksibelle too? Kind of racking my brains now, there's a fair few of us close enough! Measles might bring her boys down to show us all how it's done...

There must be more, my brain just isn't functioning at the moment!
