My youngster tries to duck out at skinnies on a XC course and blocking the way won't help. What to do???
For a skinny you need a very collected canter and be in absolute control. If its small enough a trot is sometimes better depending on what pace the horse prefers.
When you go into it you need to be completely straight so make sure your horse doesn't drift to the side a few strides out or gets 'wobbly' on approach.
It might be good having a practice at home with barrels so you can start with wider skinnies and gradually start building them smaller and smaller.![]()
