Thanks for all good wishes guys much appreciated. At least hospitals have moved on since my last visit I can now access the net at my bedside.
Well sl was Rags first event since early may as we have been working on improving the SJing. He did a good dressage for a 37 which slightly dissapointed me although I have yet to see the other scores in the class.
XC I eas quite happy with the course he is a machine and was entered next at novice. SJ he warmed up well and his juming is much improved. Went in and he jumped v big over the first fence slightly unseating me, on landing he spooked violently sideways andi came off the side landing on my feet - as I landed I heard the ankle go.atimes were tight mum hadnt even come down to sjing.
I was put in the event ambulance and luckily also knew the dr who is from this way. We were taken to the lorry park entrance to await transfer to the land ambulance - probably a tad off putting for competitors coming in! Luckily my boots have a zip up the back so were removed without being cut - one positive although the socks and jod didn't survive! Unfortunatly once the boots were off we could see the damage, the bone was protruding on the right not out through the skin luckily and my tows were pointing the wrong way!
After nearly an hour wait in intense agony as the event ambulances do not carry morphine we were transferedd toa land ambulance and taken to Taunton hospital. The doctor at the hospital tried to pull the leg back in shape - i have never had pain like it no anesetic - i'm surprised you didn't all hear me! x rays showed 3 breaks 2 one each side of the ankle anf the tibia. It was clear an op was req but already too much swelling so agreed I could travel back to my local hospital.
SL organiaser kindly picked us up and took us back to the lorry. Then travelled back home in the lorry on the bed and was picked up by a friend close to Trelisk hospital to take me in. Luckily my friend the dr at the event had rung ahead the the orthepediac reg looked at us and had to manipulate the bone again despite being high on morphine boy did it hurt.
Anyway sat in hosp writting this waiting for the swelling to goo down. Could be up to a week before they operate and i cannot move from the bed so like a cat on hot bricks. will be a minimum of 6 weeksafter op before ican even wait bare.
Got to say how wonderful and helpful everyone was at the event. Everyone really helped from lucy and her team who looked after the horse to the dr and orgnisers. It great tobe part of such a fantastic community.
It looks like you all might be putting up with me a lot more on here as i won't be able to drive walk etc although im sure I'll get up qite a good speed on crutches.
