After I turned my horse out this morning I realised one of the other horses had let himself out his stable and was running round loose in the pouring rain in his stable rug. I did my best to catch him but even with a bucket of food I couldn't get near him.
Anyway, the owner and her mother turned up and I explained what had happened. The girl then showed her mother how she puts the kick bolt on every night so her horse couldn't have let himself out and her mother said "well if it happens again we'll know someone is playing silly buggers"
Only my friend and I are at the yard later than this girl - so it seems like her mother is suggesting one of us must have undone the bolt. After all that must be a more likely explanation than she simply forgot! I've obviously got nothing better to do than let her horse out and run around in the pouring rain trying to catch it.
Sorry for bit of a rant - I was just a bit gobsmacked by the mother's attitude, although at least she did later thank me for trying to catch him.
