True my other Connie has fantastic feet but he was lame in all four of them as a 5 year old and had awful seedy toe.

well has he got heel and frog pressure or are the heels too deep or collapsed for the frog to contact with the ground when he puts his hoof to the floor

if the straight bars are overgrown they will have a sort of collapsed bend in them, its easy to see, i just take a little off, with a proper hoof knife, only the very minimum to stop the distortion of overgrowth of the bar which should be straight, its usually the bit near to the heel that distorts, ie straight is strength

I read everywhere that bars should be straight. I don't think I've owned a horse yet without a bend in the first third of the bar. My horses don't seem to read the books :)
