I'm just musing here and thought I'd ask how other people felt on the subject; personally the following is a pet hate of mine.
My sister took her little filly out to a local show today (nothing major) and amongst other classes, entered her in the 'Coloured, Spotted and Palomino' inhand class.
Now, I can sort of understand coloureds and spotteds going in together (though that still slightly annoys me) but to just include palominos? I've heard that some places also class 'duns' (well, buckskins) as coloureds and allow them to partake. I'd love it if someone entered a 'dun' class with their black or red dun- or even their bay dun, only to be told it wasn't allowed as it wasn't, in reality, a buckskin.
And if palominos are allowed, why not cremellos, smokey creams, perlinos etc? It just seems nonsensical to me.
I know, I know; it's only a bit of fun and I shouldn't take it too personally.
Like I say, just interested to hear if it's only me that's so easily annoyed. *winks* I think I need to get out more!
Also, is it the same up and down the country and is it a 'thing', or is the idea of grouping pallys regional or few and far between? I wonder who came up with the idea or was it, back in the day(sort of historically, so to speak), people classed pallys as 'coloured' as they weren't perhaps the norm compared to the bays, greys, chestnuts etc. Who knows!
