Snowy weekend plans....?

Had meant to be going to a Wobbleberry clinic Friday, very sensibly cancelled, slightly gutted (iunderstatement!) as the new date is one of two days in the whole year that I won't be able to attend.

Today we had meant to be going out to dressage, having only recently passed test and got trailer sorted I was keen to get out and start getting some competition mileage! However, as that was also called off we took the horses out to Somerford Park for a mooch around the farm ride this afternoon instead. Cue three very edgy mares deperate to let off steam but we took turns having sensible and less sensible moments and I'm pleased to have got round mostly looking like horse and rider and not part llama... mostly... :)

Well, this is the first time I am joining this thread. But seeing as your are all unable to compete or even go out due to weather, I felt I could contribute with a little competition report ;)
We didn't have snow here in Turkey. In fact it was 15 degrees but rainy and stormy. My little cutie pie PRE competed in the FEI children's classes on Saturday and Sunday with his 14 yo rider. There were two foreign FEI judges and one national judge. My boy was his usual reliable self, utterly obedient and adorable. Two judges liked him, one did not (There was a 7 percent difference in points) I know he hasn't got huge paces like some others but this is a children's class! No matter, he won both his classes despite his rider forgetting the test on Saturday (teenage boys, who'd have them :D). His rider redeemed himself on Sunday and was much better. We hope they will be picked for the national team this year like the previous one.
Anyway, photos:
The first three horses in the children's class were all PRE's:

Fab to see PREs are so popular over in Turkey! They are great.

My fat little PRE loved his gridwork session! He was very bouncy and an absolute teacher’s pet. There’s no way he could have made the strides six months ago so I’m very chuffed - all the dressage work is paying off!

I decided to hack the five miles back from the venue. We got stuck in one snow drift (!) but my little ATV horse found a way though :D

Indio was very happy to get out in the school! He’s been even more cuddly than usual, I think his response to being stuck inside is too demand more attention :P

Nice pics 1st1 :)

Sounds fun jiffy! Still can't see your vids tho :(
So jealous of people getting out and about. After the brief thaw yesterday and subsequent refreezing, the drive and lane round to the school and fields is even worse today than it was yesterday so horses stuck in AGAIN! Hopefully get them out this afternoon.... so bored now

Loving the international vibe ;)

1ST1 you need to stop feeding said teenage boy/stand him away from the muckheap :D what a lovely line up.

Thank you all for your nice comments :)
And ester yes, he is 1.75 m tall already, makes my horse (who is 158 cm) look like a pony. I must have a word with his parents about feeding him :D

Loving the responses from Turkey and Australia! J1ffy that grid looks very athletic, nicely done.

We actually managed a ride. Ta da! Nice for us both to have a leg stretch after F had a 2 week mini break having got cast in his stable and then the snow. Then I'm off for 3 weeks pretty much on work business so not much riding for me. If the snow has cleared F will be back out though as he's in exercise livery. But not the greatest prep for the CTR dressage champs later in March which we qualified for recently.

I’ve given in and made it public...!

Crap about the ice :(. It’s still mild down our way but now we have mud and water everywhere!!!

Well done to everyone who has been battling the elements - it’s not fun at all :(

The highlight of my equestrian weekend was raking the snow off a circle in our manege, and lunging the four horses....

Sophie and Daisy were well behaved, Fionn was an idiot, and F rode Harv round the circle bareback, no hands etc.....

Then Fionn dug another hole in the all weather turnout (right through the membrane) so he is definitely not flavour of the month.

WAaaaaaaaaaahhhh Still can't ride. There's a 20 x 40 sized bit of clear surface in the school but I can't get to it without creating snow stilts :( boo. I hate snow!

Surely the advantage of your OH is that he could whip your shoes off for riding :p, then pop them back on again after :p

Kira is due actually so the thought crossed my mind! Certainly millie and twiggy have no such problems with their bare tootsies. but he was soooo helpful ferrying me about in the snow as my yaris wouldn't cope.. didn't want to push my luck! :D

Yeah well.. . I was trying not to dwell on that :D sort of comes with the territory. Never met someone quite so excited about snow, I hate the damn stuff :D

Oh crap MP!!! I managed a nice hack on Indio this morning - almost no snow left on our usual hacking routes (though plenty of drifts hiding elsewhere). Hopefully the continuing mild weather makes your arena usable soon!!

thanks :) Dug the mounting block out this morning so hoping that by this afternoon I might get to use it :p

So lovely to read the weekend plans from abroad - congrats on the results 1st

Well goodbye Beast from the East, don't let the door hit you on the way out.... I went hacking this morning :D :D And we had a lovely splash about the lanes that are currently in the guise of streams. Hopefully we can crack on with spring now :)

Token pic post ride. Is it time for breakfast now mum??!

got to love 4 white socks, DabDab <3

Agree with the rest, winter can do one now. It's time for spring. Managed to get both horses ridden today, yay! Kira was half asleep and Salty was a leapy rodeo horse but that's the first ride done after 7 days cooped up so I'm just pleased to get it out of the way :D
