So basically my search for a little companion pony took me to a sale today..

Had a look around, fell in love with a little sec A but thought nothing more. felt a bit sorry for him being tethered with no hay or water for hours and owner nowhere to be seen but thought... no...way!

THEN someone points out how well the meat man is doing... ugh heart drops but hey, these things go on.

Can you guess....

So I watch a bit of the bidding, the couple behind me pointed out MM and i felt so terrible every time he won...

And then who trots out, being a little darling...

So bids begin, and my heart sinks as i see whos bid.. yes MM, so who enters a bid war and wins... yup..moi!

So now i have a lovely gorgeous little chappie in my paddock and an absolutely fuming OH.

Unfortuately 18 gorgeous horses did go to MM, his trailer pulled in as we were leaving and omg, how i didnt beg him to drop them all at my house i dont know.

So yeah, im in so much trouble with the beloved its unbelievable.

Yikes!

Try to get him to look at it as a business investment, a lovely lil kids pony to bring on and sell...

UNLESS of course, you get too attached, then you are sunk!

Oh he is gorgeous, and so so good, used as a lead rein pony/f-ridden. bit fat but we can sort that out.

Put it this way, for 200 odd quid he is a diamond. Bit shocked that the seller didnt really give a chuff about him though. I have looked on horsemart and same type of horse is going for £1000/1500 ish so OH feels a bit better!

And they have just been shooting rats in my garden and he looked up, snorted and trotted over to me for a stroke.

and yes Im falling.. pity hes only 11hh, i think i might just squish him.

I tend to buy the fuinny coloured mini things for 35gns anytime I go near a Shetland sale ring ... On the plus side I do then sell most of them to America 4 months later for 1k to put true British Shetlands back into the American bloodlines! :D

I think im going to give him a week or two, see how he goes and maybe put an AD up to see what comes along.

He seems so fab that he might find himself a bit wasted, but he would make a little boy or girl so very happy. I really like him but it has only been four hours!

The fact that he was in the ring perfectly, then taken by a stranger as owner didnt even come to say bye, boxed perfectly and then stood in my garden being cooed over, just makes me ahhhh.

Cant help think of those horses going to slaughter though, some of them were beautiful :(

good on you:D
shame about the others tho darn mm:mad:

what you going to call him? what colour

well if you find a new home a bit quick and make on him you can do it again and tell hubby you saving them and making on them its a business

Will do tommorrow, as it is raining at the moment so pics would be rubbish-and i dont really want to go out eher and bother him again.

... oh okaaaaayyyyy...

be back in a sec...

There you go.. i expect lots of lovely comments because its peeing it down and i got soaked. All for you lot!

Bless him though, i jogged up to the gate and he trotted with me, and followed me like a litte puppy, which made it really hard to get a good pic. will take better ones tommorrow.

He's lovely. Well done for saving him. :D
I'm sure your OH will forgive you, especially if you can find him a nice new home and make some pennies on him. Smart little chap.
