Rode from 7-8 until 17/18 and then had a 5 year break due to losing confidence through nasty falls/Uni etc started again this January and never stopping again!!!!
I'm proud of the fact that I still compete at SJ, Dressage and ODE (only once in a blue moon because I run out of stamina and only around 2'6"!!!) Oh to have the chance to "do a Mark Todd"
Know how you feel Gallop, I'm reading every magazine, book and internet site I can, then get completed overloaded with info and have to back to the start! Things do sink in with practice I find....
Ummmm, longer than I care to remember. Longer than some, not as long as others.
Started when I was 9, had a couple of breaks one in my late teens/early twenties, one when I had my first daughter and am on another break now pg with my second.
22 years also. Mind you I posted a while back about horse prices and a link to a horse for sale, and someone suggested I take someone experienced along to the viewing - I must be coming across as an amateur!
21 years and counting! only ever ha breaks when shadow was lame, and for about 9 weeks when i lost her.
but to be fair i don't think i really starting riding properly, i.e. riding a horse correctly into a contact, until i was 13/14 so about 12/13 years with any skill....
I think you need to expand your poll seeing as most of us have put >12 years. Glad I'm not the only old fart on here and have to admit to it now being 31 years.
