I have two :) a friesian called Duke and a old trotter mare called Millymoo, duke we have just broken him in and are carrying on in the school with the basics and with milly she is our big pet really! She has the odd ride in the school :)

We now only have four the most was I think eleven ,
I do everything from driving , to dressage but my main back ground was eventing my OH loves hunting.

6! I have;
Bella my first pony a sec A
DJ Shetland who puts the ***** in Shetland
Vinnie 5 year old warmbloodXCob
Gino 2 year old Irish draftXCob
Austin 4 month old warmbloodxcob (who is yet to arrive)
Larry 6 month old aploosaXArab

I'm 20 with unhorsey parents!

currently have 7, one aged 29 her son who's 21, a 6 year old broodmare (injury means cant be ridden) her yearling, my 6 year old gelding who i ride, and two mini shettlands (saved from meatman) both are more trouble than the rest put together !!

far too many - but thankfully its my own land/stables so dont pay livery bills :)

3 riding horses at home - and Scrumpy the elderly companion (4)
Then 4 Exmoors who do conservation grazing for Somerset Wildlife Trust (they will be home for the winter soon) so 3+4+ Scrumpy is 8
Then there is the horse that did a leg, who is with my mother - and likely to stay - as who wants a TB who has done a leg (tendon 18 months ago) in these terrible economic times (but do tell me if you would like a freebie TB 11 year old TB, who is a sweetie, and sound, lovely riding horse - and I will send him your way.....) So that is 9 - argghhh!!

Just one, clearly I need to catch up! She is my ridden horse and I was thinking of getting a companion pony, but then again why not a youngster, then again so many nice horses going cheap why not just get another ridden one? It wouldn't cost THAT much more... I assume this is how you end up with eleven horses?

Four..tho as another above, I also had 11 at worst..then down to 6 for a few years before now. Currently having some time off competing due to me being broken & trying to mend, they all miss it so have all had a phase of highly competitive self harming, just to spice life up a little:rolleyes:

Jessie 26yr old dark bay TB mare, 16.3h,she raced-hurdles & chasing, point to pointed, then we evented and now just dressage - have bred from her but sadly lost her beautiful girl at only 6:-( I love her to bits..my horse of a lifetime..tho when we first met..if they wanted me to ride her, they could tack her up...it was only when I heard she was for sale (aged 7), I knew I couldn't let anyone else have her!

Safe 15yr ch gelding TB,17h,raced NH,now dressage but mainly he is a ninja face puller, practicing for Rio by the looks of things

Blossom 15yrs,15.3, raced NH, evented, accident, broodmare-natural Mum.will let anything suckle..even if it doesn't want to (wheelbarrow/car/unsuspecting wandering tresspasser..you name it!)

Waltzing Walter - thanks to everyone who helped chose his name! by Brief Encounter, Blossies son, just turned 4,will definitely be doing dressage & eventing when I can find the right person to compete him for me..I can't jump anymore after accident with his mum.

I do still play polo tho,so three of the above(not Walty) have all played. I had a lovely string when Blue was still with us..another one gone way too soon. Currently we are all just playing at home & not competing but hope to again next year...

ummmmm...does a mental walk through the paddocks.

10, I think, I have just sold 4 yearlings.
2 colts (2012).
1 gelding (2010)
4 broodmares
2 minis
1 stallion

I'm down to 5 ish, well 5 1/2 I suppose

Ace, retired Arab brood mare
Emmy 8 year old daughter if Ace
Angel yearling daughter of Ace
Willow 6 year old Arab x Saddlebred
Ben 9 year old Perch/TBx Saddlebred

Also still own half of Stewie Draft x Haflinger, he was born here, is waiting for new home to be ready, and of course Poncho the Donkey who is going to be staying here half the year.

Have our own land, and I'm down from a top number of 15, so getting more manageable.

As a family, we have 2 horses. I have my mare Bella who is an IDxCob and is a little superstar :) We generally just hack and have fun. Then my sister has her youngster Puzzle who's only 2 and is already 16hh+ :o He's lovely and is just enjoying being a baby at the moment :)

3. 2 Arabs. One of those is 17 and has been my riding horse for the last 11 years, a 5 year old which we are showing and I am hacking about this winter for his further education and a 21 year old retired polo pony who the grandchildren love to ride and make a fuss of.

Too many,

will be looking at reducing our numbers down to 5, we have 7,

Casey, ISH (mine) and gets very little work, as I am at work all the time,
Kim, Solid appaloosa, aged 30 yrs, ridden by the kids friends every now and then,
Destiny, riding pony, ASH, friesian x, and my daughters pony, atm
Misty, Australian pony, and my daughters pony last year, would like to breed from her, but need to check she is up to it,
Dusty, welsh x , quarter horse, my sons pony, but I am riding him occasionally.
Tala, Destiny's foal, from a freisian warmblood stallion, not doing much atm
Grace, TB x cydie, my sons mare, and not doing much since his shoulder op, but will start doing something soon.

a bit of a mixed bag

5yr old cob. Just getting her out and about seeing new things. We've done a couple of w&t dressage tests and some low key jumping clinics. Got a little jumping show booked for next weekend (mini heights - 1'6 I think)

2yo sect B filly

Oh my god so many horses :)

I sound boring now haha.

Have one at the moment 19yr old cob who has semi retired to hacking few times a week. He has been my first horse and done everything with him.
Soon expanding to 2 though as new horse hopefully arriving in a couple of week :)
Still got a way to go to catch up though I think lol x

i have 2....................................daughter has 3 (spoilt brat;) ) 1 of the 3 is up for sale but can't see him going anywhere in the current climate.

we hack and poo pick, poo picking is a big part of life with 5 :o

Had 3 up until Monday, then sent one of the ex-racers back to his owner.

Now I've got my 20 year old retired TB x dales gelding and my 13 yr old ex-racer who I just hack about on, although I'm trying to find him a full loan home.

Slightly off topic but totally related!I'm sure we've all been there..those of us with one but especially more than one...how annoyed are non horsey people when they ask the same question!!

Most common replies..
Non Horsey Person:said doubtingly "so what are their names..(I don't believe you)"
Me: (you reel names off)
NHP then get the grumps because you were NOT making it up.

Non horsey person:What are you going to do with them in winter?
Me: the same as I do in the summer, just with more rugs & with me wrapped up warmer....I don't put them in a cupboard either..they don't hibernate..not even on Christmas Day...I even do them when it rains.:eek::eek:and in the dark sometimes!:D

Me to NHP usually courier or builder: I can only be home on any day between 10 and 3 (well 9 & 4 but they NEVER listen so play it safe.)
NHP:if you can't do tomorrow at 7 what about the next day?
Me: Well...I said 10 & 3 on any day ever..that would include the next day.
NHP what if I come earlier..
Me:I'll see you at 430am then...without fail? I leave to get there by 5am
NHP: Huh?er no I start at 7 can't you do them in the evening if I start early?
Me:Listen retard..I do them every day..at least twice..without fail..EVERYDAY.
NHP: Well how about at half 8 then?
Me: Absolutely fine...but you'll be having a long wait till ten!

What makes me laugh the most is this is most common when NHP is a boss or someone who thinks they are in control of you (thank God for always being self employed, have only ever witnessed this but soooo painful to do so!) They are mega punctuality freaks yet baulk at the fact you can & do still get up before they've gone to bed to care for horses..daily.even on weekends..and how unforgiving they are if you dare to consider emmergencies..but its absolutely fine if they take an afternoon off to take little Jonnie to the dr...even tho their wife is taking him..because he needs you both there...to have a life or death...... eye test!!!..yet they freak out if Horsey persons mare goes into labour...or god forbid has the dreaded C word. They just SOOOOO don't understand!
