We have had our new horse for about two months now and she has settled lovely. She is 17h Irish Sport (very big boned) and she is an absolute pleasure. I bought her for me and my daughter to share and it is working so well. If I don't feel up to going to the yard if I am knackered, I just drop her off and we share the load.
A lot of people were skeptical of us buying such a big horse but she has the most gentle nature and a really safe ride, although forward going. Today I was down a narrow pathway in the woods and a man on bike rode past, I had to pull to one side and he was about a foot away (I thought I might end up in the bush lol) and she just looked at him with interest and stood still bless her.
Yesterday my daughter walked her through the village and she stopped for children to stroke her. She lowered her head and let a little girl stroke all her face and apparently she had a good hold on her nostrils, saying horsey. Nina just stayed there with her ears forward.
I am trying to figure out the best bedding to use still and how to go with it as she is a very wet horse and treads her poo into the wee, lovely. She is eating a whole bale of hay a day, but she needs it being so big love her.
I feel so blessed, I feel like I have won the lottery find such a wonderful gentle soul.
