So sad at this situation

Doesn't Moorcroft have a dodgy rep? Horses are 'gifted' to them in good faith ( for a fee), then they get put down as unsuitable for rehab? Gah, wish the search function was working again on here.

All I know about Moorcroft is that a friend worked there for a few months and loved it. She’s a sensible sort, and if anything ropey was going on I’m sure she’d have left.

What a rubbish situation, I really do feel for you...I know I'd take the horse but I always lead with my heart and end up suffering myself from daft decisions! I've just seen an advert for the full brother of a pony I used to own, always regretted selling him to a friend and I'm desperately trying to think of an excuse to buy the boy despite not 'needing' him.

If the horse is currently doing rehab on the walker, would it be possible for you to do some of it under saddle so you would at least get to know if he is good for you to ride. This might help with you decision/owners plans for him. I assume it is sdft injury so rehab would normally be 3-4 months which takes up most of the winter, if the owners are willing to pay livery and there is a box available where he is now.

Personally, if I had the space, time and money the I would do it. I didnt buy a horse who I had for a while a few years back and have always regretted it, especially when I hear how ignored it is in the home it ended up in :(
