EWWWWW neck cover! wheres the neck cover!!!!! šŸ˜¬
I don't have one yet! He's too big for all but 2 of Alfs rugs, neither of which have a neck cover!
Adding that to the shopping list which comprises of several things that he needs because Alf's are too small. Like a noseband- as there's a 4in gap between the ends of Alfs!
I always thought Alf was pretty imposing...

Super smart! šŸ˜
(Until you get too close when you go to bring him in!)
No tips here from a fellow grey owner other than the human ā€œtouch of silverā€ shampoo is pretty good

The unicorn pony has the following beauty regime pre-competitionsā€¦

- 2 x 3 washes of his body and legs in normal shampoo
- easy-out spray onto all knees/hocks/fetlocks, scrubbed in
- blue fairy liquid tail initial wash
- normal shampoo tail wash
- purple old lady shampoo tail wash
- if still not clean, or weā€™re going to something special, the vanish oxy-action tail soak (stop just below the dock!!)
- purple old lady conditioner on the tail

Shampoo goes on with a proper brush, scrubbed in, sponging doesnā€™t get the bog-monsters in-ground dirt out! Heā€™s much better living out than stabled as mud seems to wash out more easily than pooā€¦

He does look lovely when heā€™s practically ultraviolet and glowing in the dark, but I do miss my nice bay horses to compete sometimes (although I did have to plait those)

I think he looks like a lovely gentleman of a horse.
This photo make him look like he has been drawn following a classic "how-to-draw-a-horse-head" guide where you start with a circle for the cheek, then add the rest - a very well defined shape! :)

I had a disgusting mare who was whiter than white (pink skin coloured with very little brown)

1) itā€™s easier to keep them clean than get stains out. Mud doesnā€™t tend to stain unless youā€™re on red clay, but poo and urine stains need to go asap after they arrive or theyā€™ll be ingrained forever

2) supreme products blue shampoo for special occasions, blue fairy liquid for every day

3) miracle groom bath in a bottle (can you even get this anymore? Iā€™m not sure) was absolutely fantastic for spot cleaning

4) I was not above soaking the end of her tail in vanish oxi action or the cheap supermarket equivalent (obviously keeping it off any skin!)

Many years ago on a livery yard, we used to take 15 horses and ponies to a huge field with stream and lots tree shelter, for a xmas holiday. And take in turns to go check on them daily once or twice a day.
They would go in convoy in the big lorry and few trailers and my
Small box.
Most with old rugs on in case they trashed them, they would stay till Jan 4/5th. To give all us liveries and the yard owner a xmas break.
There was 2 greys, both with no rugs as they were hairy natives Connieā€™s. One day I went to check on the horses, and could only see one grey. So I started having g panic attacks. Where was she. Was there a hole in the fence. Were gates secure. All checked out. Was begining to really worry. Called yard owner to the field. We checked again. Then realised our pretty grey mare had turned bay, with mud. She was head to foot in mud. Only under the belly showed any grey. Pictures were taken. Her owner couldnā€™t believe colour of her.

I've actually got some miracle groom! Used to use it on Alfs socks!

A friend on the same yard as me had a lovely white/grey cob. She turned him out one day after a show, sparkling shiny white and I saw him 20 minutes later and thought he had brown boots and a rug on; he was sooo dirty!

I can highly recommend Big Horse Shops Broad Fit rugs.

My current and my elephant who we lost twi years ago lived in them.
