So who has turned horses out in this weather?

My boy is out as usual...but I am lucky because he has a field stable in his field...so I just change rugs and open his door and off he goes into his field...great! He was out at 6am and I willl get him in at 7pm as usual tonight. I keep looking out of the window at him but he has his head down eating as usual!

Yep, both out. Theory is they are heavy enough not to blow away!

Well it is major gale force winds at our yard today and the fields are saturated so they are staying in today but i think they will get put out at lunch for an hour so that is ok

My new boy is out cos he lives out and seems happy enough with his mountain of hay. My two girlies that live in are out today, they always go out though they get silly if you leave them in. The majority of my yard seem to have turned out too. However I think the haybarn roof is going to fly away! :S

Glad other people have turned theirs out - I read the first few posts and thought what a cruel mum am I!
Didn't even think about not turning them out, just rugged up clipped out ned who hunted yesterday, put headcollar on Small Fat Welsh and led them out to the paddock - did look rather like a small child flying two large kites though!!

Only the second day this winter they havnt gone out , but no way this morning much to dangerous with things flying about.

Ours are all out for the day in coats and boots, when I left they all had the wind under their tails, not surprising as our little island is expecting storm force 11 today!

The TB's I'm looking after this week are hooligans to lead anyway - I really wouldn't like to take my chances leaded one of them in particular in this weather - he's 17.2 lanky and forgets where he boings his legs!

All the ones that live out are out.
All the ones that go out in the day are in - but more due to the fact that we are all off racing and no one here to do the work.
Most of the ones in work havent even been ridden let alone go out in the field for an hour.

Mine are out, i know its windy but i like them to be out, they'll b out til i finish work at 6 then they'll come in. They dont mind staying in at all and my big boy loves his stable but they're coming in2 b shod at lunch time anyway so thort they should tretch they're legs b4. Yesterday i kept mine in as the rain n mind were atrotious! But by lunchtime it was sunny n i got a ride in n turned them out and then it got nasty again...cant keep up with this weather!! Bring on summer!!!

We have the 5 that live out 24/7 (the two pregnant welsh cobs, dales, NFx and warmblood cold) and the 4 that come in over night and i presume they have gone out as usual this morning for the day although it is not me that turns them out so can't be 100% sure!

at my yard i have 9 out today (6 mine) the rest are in - owners choices (including me keeping my wimp in!) those that are out - are not even in the shelter - they are out in the gales!! we are on the coast and the radio said 75mph gales for today - just hope my shetland doesnt fly away!

Hannah is out, but she is due to foal in just over a month so she's an exception. I have left Grace screaming her head off because her best friend has gone out without her!

Gin loves to play out and can never wait to get out. She was walking out of her stable before I even managed to get her headcollar on. So she is playing out in the yard and will have a play in the little school (lake) this afternoon to stretch her legs and get rid of some energy.

SWUO is out as she'd just stress too much if I left her in.....she did a rather impressive shoulder-in(OK...crab impression) up the field to come and say hello at the gate earlier...then raced off back to the bottom to get under shelter again once we'd gone

In! But will possibly be put out for an hour or so later is it gets better. I worry about flying debris/trees falling too and my horse hates getting wet, upsets himself and it isn't worth it! He got walked in hand this morning (yes, at 6am), and will be ridden later.

Weather is quite different up here, no wind or rain, just lots of snow! Chex is out everyday regardless. I must admit I felt bad this morning when I got to the field gate, turned round and saw his head was completely white with snow lol. He has a ful neck heavyweight on so I'm sure he'll be fine. If its still horrible later I'll bring him in about 6, rather than the usual 9.

You are all making me feel bad now, my lot are all out and they won't be coming in! All our horses live out, the haflinger and the NF are unrugged, unclipped tb has a mw with neck, unclipped irish pony has a mw, the fully clipped connie has a hw and the fully clipped tb has a hw. They have round bales of hay and are fed every evening without fail. They march back up to the field after being ridden in the evenings, if they lingered in the stable I would feel mean but they love staying out.

Out even though there is not much shelter in her field. Nice cosy rug on tho so I don't feel too guilty and it's not exactly cold, is it?
I figured keeping her in would be worse because she would have to endure the constant rattling/banging of the wriggly tin covering our rickety yard.

Tilly has full access to her stable with a lovely deep warm bed and a huge mountain of hay.....

...... BUT she much prefers being out in this horrible weather. Her choice so I can't really say that she'd prefer to be in. Tbh, with the wind she is more settled out as the stable gets V. noisy but if its calmed down tonight she'll come in to dry out with a cosy stable rug and will have a change of turnout to a dry one in the am.
