Mine are out as normal and will be until about 4pm!! Did feel mean but like to keep the routine and it creates too much work mucking 3 out god knows how many times a day! Mean mummy!!
I actually put Merlin out last night and he'll stay out until the weekend. He'll just turn his enormous backside into the wind, and hopefully shelter half of Surrey!
Ours were in this morning but as GinaGem works from home (where we keep the neddies) she may have put them out by now. The boys probably would have been fine but Gems a bit of a girl (sorry Gina).
Ours neds are on the top of a massive hill as well so it's always worst up there!
I almost got blown away walking up the hill to the stables so I left them in! First time this year! Their field is very windy in the best weather as they are on the side of a hill on the north downs!!
Turned out at lunchtime as Neddy much prefers to be out and I thought weather was getting better. However, I am now watching anxiously as huge squall is going through...... He has got two rugs on, one with a neck so he won't be getting wet OR cold. No-one else in his field so hopefully he won't be too silly on his own. Would just prefer it not to be so wet and windy though! Almost looking forward to the cold and snow that are forecast.....
Mine's out - he would have been kept in if with the prev owners, but they are a competition yard so dealing with 1 wet/muddy horse easy for me but dealing with 10-15 wet/muddy horses not so easy for just one groom!
I do feel guilty though, leaving work at 4pm (flexi-time, just love it) to go and get him in. Have owned him 2 days now and not ridden him - well, won't be doing tonight unless the wind dies down a lot
Mines happily tucked up in his stable with a swede and plenty of haylage lol. He hates the bad weather, he will just stand at the gate or in the hedge which is why he has to be stabled, if he was turned out he wouldn't eat. He's a bit of a wuss really Carling
As we are very very high up and exposed on the yard both our yard and the one next to us have opted for in - I did not see any complaints as I strung the nets up - they all just settled down for a serious munch. Since Donkey took one shoe off yesterday I really don't want her taking the other one off today
Mine are out as usual in the day and in at night. They do have a massive ex-foaling box that I have 'converted' into a kind of field shelter though, so they can get out of the wind and rain if they like. Except my Welshie. She likes to eat the grass no matter what and is seeminglt oblivious to the howling gales and lashing rains!
in, lucky to have large area to turn out inside (if that makes sense!) least he can stretch legs and say hi to pals through partition
he grumped all evening on monday after i left him out in a gale all day
Flosspots was out last night and leapt into my arms this morning so is inside today but back out again tonight.
Moon's boyfriends went out, therefore she had to go out too (cant possibly be separated from her bfs!)
Mine are still both living out and coming in for a few hours a day to be feed, gorge on hay etc, Fudge hates the wind but isn't really keen on the stable so would be a lot more panicky inside, the fields huge, plenty of natural shelter, high hedges etc and stables are surrounded by trees so at least they can get out of the way in the field if anything does come down, don't fancy chancing squished neds...
at work we have turned only a few out. and 3 in playpens but there not enjoying it. the fences have practically all broken but we left them out for the time being
Our 2 are out they would not be happy being kept in. one of them will have swollen legs if she stays in for 24 hours. they also got ridden for 20-30 minutes this morning, well on just had to give up as was getting blown all over the place!
mines out! i'm going up to get him in now and i can guarantee you he will have his head down muching away in the very furthest corner of the field! and as always he will make me treck through the field for 10mins to get to him!
xxx
I moved mine to a different field when I put them out this morning as their usual one is surrounded by trees. Came in from work to find a tree down right next to their shelter in that field- phew!
Mine went out, then came in at 11ish as was only one out... although took me half an hour to catch the little sod, even thogh it was squealing because he was on his own!! Silly pony!!
