So who's starting to dry out?!

We've had lots of posts about our fields being 12inches deep with mud, so I thought I'd do a cheery one for a change!
My field is DRY! Infact, when I rode in it yesterday there was dust, as opposed to mud splatters, coming from the ground. My horses are coming in from the field no longer sporting the hock-high brown stockings. I can walk across the field in trainers. I can walk my dogs without having to bath them when we get back.
Yes, there may not be much (any?!) grass, and it may still feel around -100 out there, but its DRY!!! :D
Anyone else, or am I one of the extremely lucky ones who is going to get stoned for making this post?! ;)
 
Nope our fields are the same lovely & dry now. The last 3 days I have worn my trainers as not needed wellies it's so dry, just blooming cold :p
 
No i'm with you - we are in south west and our fields are almost too dry. Need the grass to grow a bit now. We have been so lucky to have turnout all winter as the fields are on a hill and so good drainage. A lot of other livery yards near here have had their fields shut for months - although i think often that is down to poor management of land and overstocking.
 
Our fields are on stony ground so dry very quickly once given a chance, so currently look good.

Trouble is, in the summer they're rock solid!
 
Horses are out 24/7 now, got dustbowls where the mud used to be. Can walk through gates in my work shoes yet...still wearing a gazillion layers due to it resembling Outer Siberia!

I am desperate for it to rain but I know it will next week, so I refuse to be annoyed. Spent all winter moaning about the rain, I will take the dry and be
greatful for it.

I would really like to keep the paddocks my two are in now though so I can manage them myself.
 
Really quite dry for us too ... although starting on Tuesday we are forecast a week of heavy non-stop rain again in our area :mad: Fingers crossed the weather man has got it wrong

Yes were drying nicely, not for long I fear. It seems next week is to be better temperatures but bringing the rain with them. Hey ho, back to the mud I guess.
 
managed to harrow and roll their winter field yesterday - BUT it's only dried becasue of the crazy wind, it's still absolutely freezing and weeks away from grass being able to grow. Oh and snowing again this morning so they might be mud baths again by now (but at least flat mud baths!)
 
Nope, thick mud and it's been sleeting/snowing. Luckily not settling though. Horses are still in at night, they are fed up just as much as we are. :( And a hideous and freezing wind!

I'm in Surrey/South London borders.
 
Ours have dried out pretty well, just a few mud hollows left.
All the local farmers are out with their tractors at the moment muck spreading the fields and flying up and down the roads.
 
Drying out nicely here :) and the water in the ditches is dropping rapidly...

Even our gravel/grass yard was muddy this winter, so glad to see it back nearly to normal.

Dry, except for one gateway. Grass is an interesting shade of yellow/brown, with the very occasional green shoot!

We are forecast for milder but wet weather next week, which should get the grass growing, but suspect will delay our 24/7 turnout for another few days....

According to metcheck it is set to warm up from around the 19th April.
 
Mine is still half under snow and the rest still swamp like with new (appeared last summer and not dried up yet) stream running through it. Really hoping this wind will dry it up...
 
Drying up here but turning into a rutted shambles :(

Mind you, its been nice enough here that the boys have had a couple of hours naked these last few days (hard as nails are my boys ;) )
 
The fields at my yard are drying nicely but the previously muddy (like quicksand actually) patch by the gate is becoming really rutted and so the horses have to be very careful, mine is still choosing to jump into the field for this reason. There are still some deep puddles on the track though and it is freezing. I'm in SW London/Surrey and it's been snowing all day, I'm dreading the rain coming back as I like having a relatively clean horse and not having to worry about mud fever so much.
 
Uber dry where we are too . . . makes keeping the Donkey clean for competitions easy ;). I hate to say it, but once it warms up, we will actually need some rain (runs and hides).
