I'm not sure if those two are in separate stables, but I have seen set ups where horses eat with their heads through bars when kept as a herd (like cows are) and it gives me the heeby jeebies. All it takes is a bit of a herd tussle and the risk of a broken neck is huge.
.

Those are in separate paddocks but I have seen lots together as well

They are not quite the same construction as the ones between stallions as the bottom part here is solid.

I think any breeding stallion being kept like that is so lucky
Not sure if this has already been shared but this looks like an interesting study and now put into practice at one stud in Germany

stallion boxes with open spaces for interaction... i wonder if their hearts were in their mouths to begin with? though it sounds as though they are quite forward thinking in their stallion housing at this particular place.

I'm always interested in stable designs esp having a weird horse with baggage in the stable, but I think she'd have her front leg striking through that gap in a flash! ouch! :D

I think if the stallions accept it it’s a great idea .
It would not be for all , Sky and Blue would be a nightmare with this .

Whilst I applaud anything that improves how stallions are kept this gives me the heebie jeebies. Having known a horse suffer horrific injuries by getting its leg stuck in a gap between bars whilst either lying down or rolling in a large space this worries me as well as the striking out aspect.

Archie and Charlie would love that set up, Monty would hate it. He's on box rest at the moment (out in a small pen in the field overnight when the others are in). He spends most of his day with just a rope across his door but as soon as another horse comes onto the yard (even if they're at the furthest point, about 15m away) he has to have his door shut as he's paranoid about defending his own space. He doesn't even like the farm dogs or the chickens being around when his door is open. Shut the door and he's happy. When we go to camp, the stables have metal bars on top and he has to have an end stable as he can't cope with horses on both sides of him - one is ok as he can go to the other side of his stable to hide, even when that other one is his BFF.
