yay or nay?

For a horse with thick, wavy mane, hates it being pulled so am currently hacking away with scissors to get the desired affect with little success!

Used mine on a thick mane in conjuction with a thinning comb. It takes a bit of practice to get a natural look & if you ever need to plait there are a few short stubby bits that stick out! but one less streesed horse & handler

Love mine!

As mentioned-you have to have the nack! Ususally back comb it as you would normally when pulling a mane the traditional method and then cut at the top of the back comb!

Looks totally natural! I can make a mane thicker though over time!

My horse has a horrid thick mane with waves running through it, and hates having it pulled. I use a thinning rake first, but comb the mane over to the wrong side so you effectively rake the underside of the mane, so when you plait the short stubby hairs are underneath and easy to hide. Then when the mane is thin, comb it back over to the right side and solo comb to get the desired length. Works for me!

only use one if you know what you are doing - ive seen some HORRENDOUS manes because of being used in the wrong hands. Thinning rakes are fab but as stated above, use em on the underside of the mane. for really thin manes that cant be pulled i use a basic razor in a protective case (70p) to get the length.
