Hello lovelies,

Id love some advice on a few matters if anyone has some.

I brought a Shetland gelding about 2 months ago, he has settled beautifully and has a tempermant to die for.

When i brought him, his coat was very scruffy and had been left in a field for quite a number of months (also told other horses had been pulling out his hair) which has left him with patches. So how do i treat this? He has been given the all clear with the vet. No amount of brushing is helping have bathed him ect??

Also primarly this shetland has been walked around the field with young children never been on roads, in a school ect. I have brought him to be used for my daughter once he is ready and so is she as she to young at present. How is best to get going with him ect to make him into a really rock steady safe pony for her, he needs to be a good alrounder.

Also i like to show him, how would i get into that?

Sorry for the essays xxxx

Not sure about the hair thing maybe a photo would help.

Getting the pony ready for your daughter? Do as much as you can with him. I agree long reining is fab, take him out on roads or if you are not confident, take him in the fields alongside the road. The more you do now, the better he will be. Be patient and dont rush him. Dont let him pick up any bad habbits now as its harder to get rid once he has them.

If you do have problem which you aren't confident with seek help/advice from either a very experienced friend or an instructor.

Hope you have fun.

I will add some pics tommorow. He such a sweetie. Thanks for the advice on the roads he gets walked out on the roads at least 4 times a week. Good exercise and he has to get used to it. Someone said to use the school at our yard and set up some Scary things like bin bags sheets and stuff do you think that would be worth while? xx
