I can't believe what just happened....
Harley and I spent 3 hours up the yard this morning, so he has been suffuciently exercised today. I then went out teaching for a few hours this afternoon and left him home alone.
When I got home he did his usual bussle around (he doesn't jump up), pleased to see me. Usually I totally ignore him, but I had my shoes on and reckoned he could do with a wee (he doesn't toilet in the garden), so popped his lead on and took him over the road.
He walked ok, seeing as he was still a bit excited I had come home, but he was next to me on a loose lead, across the road then we have to walk down a cut through between some houses to the footpath. At this point he did pull me slightly, so I checked him and he walked nicely again, but I know it's because he was busting! I could hear a man had a dog on the footpath so when I came to the opening I stopped to see if the dog was on a lead, looked friendly etc etc etc.
When I stopped I allowed Harley to go to the end of the lead to have a wee on the bush.
The guy had a (very fat) Staffie with him and was walking past. The bloke then turned to me and said "DISCIPLINE IS WHAT YOU NEED, DISCIPLINE!" I was gobsmacked!! Harley hadn't done ANYTHING WRONG!!! I was so mad I actually turned and said "he's trained quite well actually thank you".... Harley is not perfect, we have things to work on, but I was just shocked! (actually we've started agility and have a new trainer for that at different training place and she commented on his manners and training in general, he is far from a terror)
The guy then walked about 10 yards, I had walked on, with H still on a lead and the guy turned round and said "is he friendly?" to which I replied "yes, but we're only here for a quick wee, I don't want to let him off to play" and the guy walked off.
I just don't get what his problem was?! Why be so rude?? No Harley wasn't in the perfect heel position, but it was because I LET him go off to have a wee!!!!!
Sorry, quite pathetic post really, but really got to me. People usually comment that H is quite good (I see his faults) so not used to an outright critism like that!
Here's a couple of photos of the "undisclipined" boy, haven't put any on for a while....
