I've got two ponies at home with two paddocks, both are perfect weight and in all fairness the nf is a little overweight. The paddock I've them on is some grass but not great bare in patches but has a good covering in other parts, so grass to be eaten.

I've not put them in other paddock cause they are holding their weight well and don't want lami :( I was in work when my hubby text me to say one of the neighbour had been informed that they will report the boys for not having enough grass.
I have a public pathway between paddocks and oh knows nothing about horses.

He has now moved them over on to the lush winter grazing, he thought he was doing right and I explained to him why I didn't want them on lush grass.

I understand that non horsey people don't get lami etc but its just so frustrating that I know the boys are a good weight if not a bit over and I come home after a 14 hr shift to have to explain that if they get fat there is a risk of lami which I really don't want,

I know this is a pointless thread just a pain in the a@@@ I did ask my neighbour what she thought of the boys condition before telling her anything and she said considering their weight I would do what your doing bare grass and if need be soacked hay in paddock when the grass that's there has gone.

Sorry, confused by the last paragraph. Does that meant that you spoke to this 'complainant' about lack of grass before, and now she/he is actually complaining?

i was reported to the rspca once for having a sign on the field saying'do not feed the pony' he was a grossly overweight sec a that old ladies stuffed with carrots and bread all day. needless to say the rspca agreed with the sign.

Oh no sorry I have two neighbours one said a walker was complaining the other knew nothing about it and I asked her what she thought about the grass and weight of my boys. The one who knew nothing about the complaint of lack of grass who also has horses said I was doing the right thing

I did say to my oh after some confirmation with neighbour ( when you see and deal with them daily you don't notice things as much) if we were reported I could justify minimal grass cause of lami risks and they would agree

Update to thread my daughter informs me that the farmer who had sorted my other paddock had said it was ready to use. No one reported me just my non horsey hubby who doesn't understand lami risks said that I was being reported so he could move them . Grrrrrrrrrr fuming with him why oh why that was one good thing about livery no interfering oh I know he was trying to do right and doesn't understand the damage lami can do but he's in the bad books

Wow....yeah, I'd be super disappointed at being lied to. Mainly because the lie means that he knew it was something you didn't want and he did it anyway. It doesn't say much about the respect he has for your wishes or your judgement or how much he respects you in general that he can actually lie to you like that.

I would not be happy....at all.
