Last Sunday I decided to do something a little different with Sky to break things up for him and just have a bit of fun, so we went to a clinic run fantastically by Sami at Heartlands Barrel Racing called 'An Introduction to Barrel Racing' at Bishop Burton.

Well WHAT A BLAST! Seriously thinking about properly getting into it - Sky was fab and really enjoyed himself, as did I... we weren't very fast (27 seconds... in Calgary they do it in 13 seconds!!) but we had a great time and met some lovely people :)

All in all, it was just what we needed to shake it all up a bit! Hope you enjoy the photos :)

the horse i rode knew all about it and flew round with hardly any help from me, it felt like she went really fast as it was so different to my usual way of riding..

What brilliant fun, the pictures are great.
Years ago, my husband was in Texas and was taken to a kids rodeo. He couldn't believe the speed of the kids and ponies doing the barrel racing. He was seriously impressed. Some of those kids were born and weaned in the saddle.

I know! When the woman said they did it in 13 seconds over in the US I couldn't believe it - I thought mine felt fast at 27 seconds haha
