To bring some happiness on a really dull Thursday
grin.gif

Mine is: I had a fab lesson yesterday, something with my position just 'clicked' (I got my shoulders properly back and my centre of gravity in the right place!) and my horse's movement and jumping improved drastically as a result.

Then, yesterday evening when i was at a friend's house, my instructor sent me a text saying 'Well done for today, best I've ever seen you ride :-) '. It was really nice to hear, as I am definitely not one of her 'star' pupils (this woman teaches professional eventers

), always feel I'm pretty rubbish actually, and I really respect her opinion. Not a massive life-changing thing, but still nice!
You?

lol vix that made me giggle! Mine was just my horse being ultra soppy today grooming me when i brushed him and being a good boy - not one buck today or yesterday when riding!!

Badger was such a good boy last night on the lunge and was trying very very hard to do what was asked of him without getting panicky and throwing a resulting wobbler!

Watching a field full of horses at work having a mad happy hoon about, and getting some stunning recals from my little doglet

I called my instructor yesterday and booked a lesson on Kai for next week.
smile.gif
Not that exiciting for most, but I haven't had one in nearly 2 years. Kai was out of proper action for a year with her arthritis, then I had no work so couldn't aford lessons.

After the worst week ever losing my beloved boy, I bit the bullet and went for a morning ride today before work (usually I would ride and lead so it was hard).

My Zoomy was a little superstar

It was the first time I have smiled in a week and we went for a lovely canter through the fields and it didn't rain until I'd rugged her up!

Ooh I know, I took the TB out after my lesson and grazed him in hand (he is in ATM to save waterlogged paddocks

) with just a stable sheet on, and it was sunny and warm (for an English February

Yep, rain and grey skies here today too

very pleased with my little self....the riding on the other hand.... :S

My oldie last night ~ getting annoyed at how long it was taking for the carrots to appear ......... broke his string and came to find me cutting them up in the tack room! (I didn't hear him as he is unshod!)

I had a sudden strange feeling of eyes on my back - and turned to find him standing, two feet in the door, ears pricked and eyes on stalks ....... when I turned round he whinnyed at me!! Soooo cute !!

That's great

nice to hear you had a good time after a horrible one

Nothing like going for a canter in the sunshine!

Laughing at things my late gran would have said about her whippets - we are clearing out her house and come across many memories! Laughing so much we cry! - Back again tomorrow, so more laughter on the cards!!!

Had nice ride on my little chap whose coming back into work last night.
First time he's been ridden under the arena lights in over a year and he was fine with it.

Meeting an old friend for coffee and being passed an envelope of precious photos of her beloved Robbie who was PTS before Christmas.

She has asked me to paint her little man a dear little Chestnut that she kept going until the age of 30.

Well, this time yesterday I was making up for my ridiculously wimpy "don't take me off the lead rein or I'll cry" childhood by taking part in my first ever gymkhana.
grin.gif
And we came 4th and got a rosette - Scooby was much better at it than expected! I impressed my instructor by doing a rein-back when I overshot and missed the cone... she didn't know I could do that.

The smiles have continued today when I got a free lesson, in which Scooby behaved perfectly, and going for a nice little wander up the grass track to cool off - he often naps going down there, and tries to reverse us into the dyke, but he was a little angel.

And now I am home and baking a chocolate cake which, judging by the mixture I am currently licking off the spoon, is going to be HEAVENLY.

Talking to my my boss about why I didn't get the temporary promotion I went for. Sounds perverse I know but I was so upset last week when I found out and having spoken to her about it I realised that it's nowhere near as bad as it seemed and that I've now got a plan of action to make sure I get it next time - which hopefully will be permanent! I did enough to have had the job but a colleague just did a bit better as his evidence was a bit 'meatier'. More of an issue with the team I'm in rather than my ability so my boss is moving me to a team that deals with stronger issues. Feel a lot more positive about the future now.

Hmm, today's my birthday and so far it's been really nice - went and did hte horse, came back home (OH and I taking the day off to spend together) to find hot coffee, pressies and a treasure hunt...out in the garden to find the rest of my pressies there - a huge rose garden around a sun-dial!
laugh.gif
Then, we packed doggies into car, went to the beach to give them a gallop and play. Back home, drop off dogs, went for lunch at the pub. Then back home via the garden shop for a few bits and bobs and came back with some huge silly pink fluffy poodle slippers. going to have a quick nap (tired after all that!) and then go finish off my horse and then home for some champers.

I've been smilin all day!

Mine's completely non-horsey.

4 weeks ago I had to have one of my cats (Hattie) put to sleep. Three weeks ago (yes, I know it was rather quick) we heard about another cat which needed a new home as the youg couple who owned her had a new baby and the cat was shall we say, a wee bit jealous!.

So to cut a long story short, I have given this cat a home. Just a few days ago I thought I'd give the previous owners a call and an update as to how the cat (Tibbles) was settling in, but they weren't in, so I left a message on their answerphone saying that all was well, cat slowly settling in etc.

Well, got home from work yesterday and in the post was a lovely little thank you card - thanking me for bothering to keep in touch with them and for letting them know that Tibbles is doing fine in her new home

Just a little thing like that, but it really did make me smile!
