Over my dead body (literally) comes to mind.... ..
My girlfriend and I have lurchers and terriers, highly nickable to the wrong sort.
I have warned her if anyone stops here round the lanes and tries to take hers to let him off, he stands a better chance loose,
he's a very powerful and large bull lurcher, they wouldnt catch him but he's highly protective of her so if they tried anything I really do pity them, he'd rip their faces off.
Personally I would have killed that scumbag and worried about the consequences afterwards, no one touches my dogs.
Yes they do and have been in a few sticky situations myself, now I hit first and ask questions later, it's the only way to survive out there these daysThe trouble is that some people freeze in such situations and it sounds as if that's what happened here.

Never forget your voice. Scream. Cause a scene. Run.I would do my best to stop her being stolen but I am not combat trained and nor is my dog. Neither of us would be a match for a bloke with a knife.

I appreciate the comments PAS made in her last post but I think, as the world is changing for a far worse and more aggressive place, that women have to change with it. To my mind that means planning. No one wants to have a go at a knife man but in this case I imagine he was a total coward and didn't expect any response whatsoever from his victim. From watching many women (and men) but especially women as they are walking along they are in their own little world or the world of their headphones. Many are totally unaware of people around them. There are so many where it would be very easy to walk up behind and attack them. On my average off road cycle ride I could easily pick up at least 20 small dogs and ride off with them and sometimes their owners wouldn't even notice.
I think we have to be much more on the lookout as to what is going on around us, be very aware if someone gets too close and take evasive action, have a glance around for a weapon or be ready to lash out, scream and have the mentality to cause a scene. It won't always work of course and sometimes we may have to hand the dog over but it may just help.
