sooo....

I'm a size 18-20, I lost about 3 stone a couple of years ago working at a yard ( lots of poo picking lol)
I have my horsie fix atm in the form of my daughters pony :)
I did have a sit on a 14.3 welsh cob not long ago when I was about half a stone lighter, felt great and he's a chunky lad ( tho a bit overweight at the time) think he would be a great height for me at 5ft4 and felt he carried me ok ( only a slow walk lol) but before I even seriously consider lessons/loaning or buying my own I would want to lose at least 4 stone
Sounds a bit daunting :(

Currently - too heavy, people on the yard say that I'm still ok.
I've put on 4 stone over the last year and own a 16.1 ISH. She doesn't seem to have changed but I know it's not fair on her.
I'm on a diet to lose a bit, see - \/

Thanks. I seriously lack willpower when it comes to certain foods :p
The only way I lost weight b4 was working hard on the yard :)
Is biking a good way to lose it? I've got a bike in the shed gathering dust atm, also going to hopefully taking flic out a lot on charlie when the weather improves and nights get lighter
Hopefully get the kids a bit fitter too.
I know its probably best to be as light as u can for your horse but its really interesting to see what ppl weigh and what they ride and own :)

Cycling will be good for you certainly, but I think walking is the best thing! I don't mean strolling.... really walking! I have lost 2 st over two years thanks to getting a dog and speed walking twice a day!

In all fairness I have been going to a boxersise class twice a week too, but that has just increased fitness and tone rather than weight loss.

I make a pan of soup and have that as lunch, healthy and filling.

Jenni_ has a thread in the club house all about her diet and weightloss journey- well worth a read! ;) xx

I'm 5 foot 8 and just under 10 stone and ride anything from a relatively well built 13.2hh (1 native and 1 hunter type) to 18.2hh warmblood.

Feel best on 16-17 hands though

9st, 5ft 4kish. not currently riding atm. But ride everything from 14.2-17hh!!

Would you say that's the right weight for that height? Currently trying to lose half a stone to get down to 8.5st :)

12.5st from 15st 3 and 5ft 5

Just sold my 14.2hh fine build welsh D, as I feel we were not suited in size.

Currently in horsey no mans land wondering what I should be buying!

I cant ride tall horses but cant ride fine horses, still losing weight but very slowly, which I am told is best, I am not a skinny person naturally and ive had children and other ops so struggle.

Anyway horse shopping is a nightmare I look at the horse in terms of will I crush it rather than is that my life partner. Very hard to get out of that mind set.

I dont ride anymore, but when I did, I was around 16.5 stone, and Benson was a 16.2hh dutch warmblood, who seemed to carry me with no complaints, quite happily plodding round the block, dressage, gallop on the beach and a fair bit of xc.

Can't edit comment but this is me on him

Good luck coldfeet with your horse shopping :) a mw or hw 14.2-15-2hh would be good for you? X I wouldn't want to go to tall or fine built either as I'm not naturally a slim person and I don't think I ever will be

Thanks Rainer,

really nice of you.

I was thinking about 15hh cobby type, just might have to wait for the perfect boy to come along now.

5ft 2 and currently about 9 stone, most of it on my bum and thighs. Think Geoff Billington with bum implants in drag.

Not too heavy for my horses but not great in Johds. I have 2 leggy slim daughters and when I see myself on their horses reflected in the shop and car windows (just checking my position) it is a bit of a shock.

I ride a 14hh Welshx and 2 TBs (ex-racer prob thinks I'm a stable lad with legs half way up her).

I am seriously impressed with some of the weight loss on here. I have struggled and have not lost the 1/2 stone I need to to be at my happy weight.

I am 10 st 6 and ride a 15.1 cob. I had crept up to 13st 4 at my heaviest and he carried me fine but I felt bad.

This is me on him when I hit my weightloss target in Sept.
