Hi
Just discovered that my horsey has a really deep sore on the inside of his mouth. It must have been where the bit has been rubbing him. Its really on the inside of his mouth and quite high up hence why I have never noticed it before
Feel really bad as I have been riding him like this and he must have been in pain but didn't really do anything naughty- he is so honest! The only thing I have noticed is that he ahs been really reluctant to bend to the right recently but as he is generally not the best schooled cob i just thought it was due to not going in the school as much recently as hacking and x country is more fun!
Anyway my question is I have him in a metal snaffle at the moment but have also been using a happy mouth pelham before. I think the snaffle might have made it worse but I am wondering if anyone could recommend a good bit to use on him. He is strong somethimes but also lazy when he doesn't think its exciting.
I am going to give him 2 weeks off and just lunge him with a dualy (spelling) or loose school. (both of which I am crap at!) Will see if it clears up but worried about it being a recurring problem!
Any tips for exercising without a bit in?
Sorry its a bit long!
