Sore Roxie Dog

That’s amazing, trotting already! You made the right call with the surgery, yet it’s always worrying understandably….but I’m so glad and happy for you all!
What’s the rehab plan like?
I’m so pleased we did it. She’s still a bit wobbly and weak but 100x happier.

Crate rest for at least 4 weeks. Back at week 2 for physio and week 4 for a checkup and we’ll go from there.

I’m sure stocking up on fresh chicken to help her during crate rest will keep her pleasantly distracted 😁
Well done for seeing it through so diligently and having best of hope 🫂 Healing vibes flowing to her ✨🤞

All snuggly and comfy for the night ❤️

Once she’s recovered and not on crate rest, I think we will crate her when she’s home alone as we can’t stop her jumping up onto the sofas if we aren’t here.

Does anyone have any recommendations for nice crates that sort of look like furniture?

I’m thinking along the lines of this…

I want to put it in the living room as sort of a very large side table.

We just have a std metal crate like yours, suitable for medium dog (D dog is small at just under 6kg) and its well covered with a board on top with an insulated throw over (its an estate car boot liner) that covers top and all 3 closed sides. I currently have a house plant on the top.
Lined with vet bed from side to side, she has her donut bed at the back, lots of room to stretch out.

So pleased she's doing well and I hope she continues to improve x

Roxie’s new digs. A bit smarter than the big black crate but still plenty of room for her.
That’s super smart, with a roller door too! How is Roxie doing? Has her appetite picked up since the op?

I remember with my GSD pup years ago now, getting a massive crate for her, big enough for her when she’s grown full sized, climbing in there with her the first few times so she felt safe! There’s a pic somewhere…😂

It has a normal opening door on the side as well so it can slot into different spots in the house.

At the moment she’s in the middle of everything so she doesn’t get lonely.

Her big bed fills the whole space in the new crate so I’ve ordered a water bowl to attach to the bars as well.

She’s much happier, eating as normal now and particularly happy in the evenings as she’s allowed out to cuddle with me on the living room rug. It’s my favourite time of day!

I’d love to see that photo if you can find it 😆

That’s great news she’s eating and getting evening snuggles, you must be so pleased and relieved.

That pic is buried on a harddrive somewhere but if I should happen across it soon I’ll delight you with it! 😁

If we get more nice weather before she’s officially allowed out, I might create a little pen for her so she can sit out and enjoy the sun safely while I’m pottering with the kids.

Sunbathing is just her favourite thing ever. She’s been fast asleep in her crate ever since so I think some outside time has worn her out!

If you need a temporary pen, I still have my small dog pen fence I can lend you, pretty sure we are reasonably local?
