sores on his lips?

on the inside of princes lips prince has got some sores, he has got one big one and a few little ones but iv seen it on a few horses, they are a perfect circle, he had them last summer as well, anyone got any ideas what it is??

Where he's been spiked by thistles? Cant think of other ideas! xxx

Larry had these last year and according to my Equine Dentist they are caused by buttercups, not sure how or why but someone else might know!

my vet had a look when he did his teeth the other week and said some horses rub them on there tushes (sp) but he forgot to have a look, but he has got more since then, he does have buttercups and thistles in his field, but the other horses iv seen them on have bare paddocks with no thistles or buttercups.

They do sound like buttercup blisters. My gelding usually gets them every year, but touch wood, he hasn't had any yet.

def sounds like buttercup blisters to me. not much you can do apart from get rid of all buttercups in his field.
