Hi All

Could I have feed balancer recommendations pls?

The horse:
* is a poor doer
* doesn't have great quality feet
* is currently being rehabilitated from injury so lacking muscle tone
* fed a high fibre diet
* susceptible to 'heating up' on anything other than a fibre and oil diet.

Has anybody used a specific balancer for the above reasons?

Thanks in advance for the help!

I'd be looking at Equivita/Progressive Earth/Forage Plus. They are specifically designed for hoof health, have no iron and balanced copper and zinc etc. They wont hot your horse up as they are powder mineral balancers. If you go for one of the cheaper ones adding lysine helps with muscle development. I'd also be feeding linseed which is good for feet/joints/weight and adding 40gms of salt

ive been using the top spec cool balancer for about 6 weeks now and i can definatly see a difference in my boys topline and muscle ,and hes 23 and been on box rest for a tendon injury and usually he would drop weight quite easily being stuck in but hes put it on!

I use forage plus hoof health balancer, great stuff with no fillers :)

And plenty of good quality hay / haylage
