How the blinking heck do you keep them on?

Madam removed hers during a hack again. And looked a right twit with it drooping over her eyes. The flies were awful despite deet fly spray on her face and ears.

Mine is one with a tie under the throat, and I loop it back on itself. The tie stayed fastened but the ears came off her ears leaving it hanging from the browband.

What am I doing wrong?

i dont think the ties are for going under the throat -arnt they for connecting it to the bridle? i always get ones with velcro but theyre never in the right place but it usually stays put under the bridle

Yes under the bridle.

The tie is a long one that comes out where a throat lash would and has a loop on the opposite side.

No velcro

Roll the forelock, and push the mane back so that the horse is comfortable, put the bonnet on and then the bridle making sure it is flat and straight, then tie the string. My horse has shaken off the curb chain but never managed to shift the bonnet.

I'm surprised that it's coming off if you put it under the bridle! Think Digger's forelock idea is good, I also put the loop through the throatlash so it's attached to the bridle. As a last resort maybe you could sew some velcro onto it?

I use the ones without ties & never had one come out from under the bridle! I bought one this year with a tie & cut it straight off as they annoy me. I use them when jumping & doing fast work as well. What make are you using?

I don't wrap the tie round the throat lash as it pulls but I do make sure it is looped around the bridle. So it can't come right off.

It seems to fit fine but when the flies are bad she shakes it off.

It comes out from under the headpiece but not from under the brow band.

Can't remember what make it is but will try to post a picture.

I thread the long tie under through the loops of the browband a couple of times on each side of the bridle as i do it up. This seems to help keep the bonnet more firmly fixed closer to the head, my headshaker can't shake it off then.
