My mares due end of May well today she's been really uncomfortable...she's forever looking and nudging her belly...almost to the looking colicky agitation...looking at her tum today it looks like ripples are running down her belly area so presuming that foalie has learnt to cartwheel....or am I being presumtious...could it be something else??

Ioften have one that doesthis at some stage, it seems to be when the realise that the foal is there, although they will have been aware of it before then of course, but seems as if one day it really catches up with them.

As long as she is bright, not discharging, no sudden udder development, temperature etc. then I wouldn't be too perturbed, easier said than done though.

Foalie is probably just lying in an awkward position

As Maggie2 has said above... really no need to worry unless there are any "symptoms" accompanying her behaviour.

This is normal, as the foal increases in size normal fetal movements (occur all the time and are so called "spontaneous fetal movements" - signify fetal well being and health) just become more evident to the mare as the size of the foal increases.

No need to worry unless they become more than the occasional transient discomfort, at which point you would need someone to differentiate colic vs fetal movements vs fetal / pregnancy abnormalities.

Thank you peeps....she seems a lot better today more relaxed I've got the vet coming Thurs for jabs so will probably get them to give her a quick once over
