Hi you lot,
I've got a question which, I'm hoping, a few of you might have some insight into! I've recently moved here from the States, where I was really involved in working with ex-racers, both my own and for employers etc. Because of this (and my lack of budget with which to buy a 'made' competition horse) I've been browsing casually online to see what the market is like over here. From what I've gathered, ex-racers are a dime-a-dozen here, as in the states, but what I've been struggling with is how to source these horses.
I've been able to find loads of charities around the country (although more in Norfolk and up north) but not much else. To clarify: in the States we have quite a lot of organizations dedicated to rehoming these horses, and the one I consider the most invaluable is Canter USA, which has sectors in several regions and, while offering some horses already in retraining, mainly deals in liaising with trainers to advertise horses still available on the track. This sort of thing is what I'm hoping to find over here; a way to find horses available from the racing trainer without having an established network of contacts. Is there anything like this?
How have you gone about finding ex-racers? Any information would be much appreciated! Thanks, guys :)

Try contacting trainers directly to see what they've got..that way there more likely to be honest. Also places like ascot sales are a good place to go. To be honest even privately ex racehorse are being 'given away' you can get a nice 4yr old for £500!!! Or rescue places? There very easy to access!

John best or linda jewell are the most known names in Kent for training - both have websites . I can ask where I got mine from and see if they have anything at the mo but they do tend to be more expensive as they generally have had a bit of retraining and some have bsja winnings
