I have just received word that a friend of mine has been called to an emergency with her horse this afternoon.

it seems her beautiful TB mare has sustained a broken leg after receiving a kick from a pony in her field (it was a temp field while her private paddock is being sprayed).

It dosen't look good emergency vet on the way too.

So the weather has been crap today and I know some of you will be tired after work, but when you see your horses next give them an extra hug cause you never know what tomorrow may bring.

My friend is totally devastated..her horse is the love of her life. can't imagine what she is going through at the moment.

Hope it isn't as bad as it sounds

Will keep my fingers crossed for a good outcome, please keep us posted!

Really hope your friends horse is gonna be OK. Same happened to my best friends horse and had to be PTS. However one of my own horses got kicked badly too, we all thought (incl. vet) it was a serious break, Thank God it was repairable. I really hope your friends is gonna be ok.

Keep us informed and lots of prayers for your friends horse.

Thats terrible, can only hope that it is repairable. Poor girl and poor horse. It's typical when you go to the effort of having private fields that then something like this happens as a one off. My YO has all of his in a field together 24/7 in a big herd and they never injure themselves, my boy broke the fence down one day between my field and the herd and my mare basically got her whole knee skinned to the bones!

Everything crossed for them both x

My thoughts as with her, hope things are not as bad as they sound and sorry to hear of your friends sad news, very true though you never know when it could be the last time you ride, or give your horse a ist last polo....little things can end up being terrible accidents.

having just got in the door soaking wet, cold and moaning at the OH about having had to go get my shivering wet bunch in in the middle of june, this post has just woken me up and I now feel like going back out to tell them I dont begrudge it really.
I really hope the horse can be fixed. Sending huge hugs and vibes to your friend and her neddy.
