Why does it say it can be used after soaking for 9 minutes...when if you leave it overnight there is almost twice the ammount than if you leave for 9 mins surely after 9 mins its not fully soaked??

It takes 10 mins if you use boiling water

With cold water i think it takes 30 mins or 45 mins i cant remember

I thought the same so I do mine overnight now too. But I have put some into soak for an hour while riding and there was the same amount as if I'd left it overnight.
So I leave a minimum of an hour for it to soak, if I have not done it overnight!

I thought that might be the case but I also think it should be on the instructions....

From the website -

Mixing & Preparation of Speedi-Beet
Do not Feed Dry!

Preparing Speedi-Beet couldn't be easier. Simply mix 5 parts of water to 1 part of Speedi-Beet by weight. Leave to soak for 9 minutes using cold water or 5 minutes using hot water (fantastic in the winter to warm your horse!).

BUT I agree, there is much more after 12 hrs!

Surely those of you who soak it overnight might as well use regular beet pulp nuts...? They're half the price...

Yay....

I'm the same charliesarmy too much sugar in regular sugar beet for me(well for gee gee really).
I only feed it in the winter anyway so when I have finished this bag that's it until she needs it again!

Yeah I too use one that is a fast soaking beet. May be speedi beet cannot remember now. I only got it because it was the only one I could get at the time as where we are the horse feed places are either crap ( have to order a most things in) or else are too damned far away and as it is partner's petrol and not mine then I am pretty much stuck. But anyway I got mine from Pets at home for just over 9 quid. I haven't fed it yet after just ten mins as I didn't trust it to be honest. I don't remember seeing about using warm water on the label ( though could be wrong). I did the 1:5 ratio but didn't think the beet looked fully soaked so I put more water in mine and leave overnight. I find it much better and it gives you more to use. Typically one scoop of dry when soaked gives me 4/5 feeds worth so it is pretty economical. I got it for the TB mare I have to help her put some condition back on and she seems to like the fact that I put more water in with it as the muesli mix she has with it can be soaked too so I suppose she ends up with a nice mash mix which she seems to enjoy.
When I run out I will try and get the ordinary ones if they are much cheaper, but I must admit to liking the fast soak ones and they do seem to give you more after soaking overnight compared to the ordinary beet. So perhaps they don't work out more expensive than people think as I bet there is only a couple of quid difference and yet the fast soak seems to give around double what the normal beet does from what I have seen.
