Spillers Response

Was told yesterday that the instant and slow release energy cubes/mix are being discontinued. Was just about to try the instant energy one - anyone use something similar?

I bought some at the till at feed merchants yesterday but when they came out to the car they said it had been discontinued, so I went back and the staff confirmed it and I got a refund - don't know what to do now. Probably ring Spillers - I'm annoyed too as it sound perfect for son's eventer

my mare was on the slow release ones, then needed a bit more so was put on the instant ones, then we heard they are being discontinued and put her on sports horse mix by saracen and its better that the instant one we have found

If this is correct is there something similar I can get hold of at a similarly low price? Don't think my feed merchants stock Saracen.

oh no! we went through all sorts of energy feeds for my lazy ish boy until we found the instant response, he's been on it 8 years and it's suited him perfectly..... so, what else could people suggest instead of this? I assume the world of horse feeds has probably changed quite a lot in the last 8 years...?! Just off to have a look at the saracen info...

Can highly recommend Allen & Page Power & Performance - have been a Spillers customer for years using their Response range and others, but Power & Performance is the best yet!

Ah, was looking at some info on that the other day and thought it sounded good. Used A&P Weight Gain for years so should be able to get it if there's no more Response.

just got my boy settled on slow release cubes and they are working wonders.

Hmm, will have to start harrassing TGM for more feeding advice if they can this. Hope not!! My supplier hasn't said anything and is still ordering them in ok

I will also have to harrass TGM - Rage has been doing fantastically on the Slow Release Cubes.
In the mean time I might have to raid my feed merchant for his remaining stock

I have just had a Spillers response

:
'I can confirm that whilst we are discontinuing the Instant Energy Cubes, we will still be making
the mix and will not be discontinuing this. If you have problems getting it from your supplier
(some suppliers have stopped taking it as they have heard the same) just let me know and I can
always contact your retailer to let them know!'

However, I didn't think that they made the instant energy in cubes anyhow... only the slow release one.

I've emailed spillers too, but haven't heard back yet.
If they are doing the same with the Slow Release as they are with the Instant Energy in discontinuing the cubes only, it's still not ideal

The Slow Release mix is higher DE/MJ, more starch, less fibre, less oil. Hmmph! Off to research TopSpec conditioning cubes

Well no good to me as I wanted instant energy cubes : but will have to change to a mix, better than nothing

The only one of the Response range we are discontinuing is the Instant Energy Cubes. The rest of them are all staying and we have no plans to discontinue these in the future, so you will be fine to continue on these. If you are using the Instant Energy Cubes for any of your horses, let me know and I can suggest an alternative. Also, if your supplier is under the impression we’ve discontinued these, I’d be more than happy to give them a call and reassure them they can still get hold of these.
