Sprenger KK Ultra

Anyone have any experience with these bits? Horse is currently in a JP Korsteel Loose Ring French Link snaffle and goes well in it, she likes the 'play' that she has with the bit. She can be a bit locked in her jaw at times, especially on the right side (she has arthritis in left hind that has been going on for some time and is still holding herself tightly as a result, we're working on retraining her muscles and brain!).

I rode her in a NS bit before and she adored it, however I have heard fantastic reviews of the Sprenger bit, and currently have the opportunity to purchase one from a friend second-hand at a reduced cost (bit is in excellent condition but has no use for it anymore)

Any feedback much appreciated!

Yep, I use them on my horses and usually find that they are readily accepted
They come in different thicknesses so before you agree to it, make sure you know what you are getting. NS bits tend to be quite thin so bear that in mind if yours liked the NS - sprengers have a wider range and the thickest are up to 21mm I think, so can be quite chunky.

I tend to use the 16mm or 18mm, but it's horses for courses

I would just put her in an NS since you know she liked it. You don't know if she will like a sprenger so would say it's a safer bet to get an NS. I don't have either, I have a cheaper version of a team up but i know more people who have NS bits than sprengers.

I would agree with that if the same people didn't spend £250 on stirrups and well over £1000 on saddles. They don't mind spending any kind of money on horses.

Well as I say, horses for courses! I have an NS curb as Sprenger didn't have one the same shape, but only sprenger snaffles... I'm afraid the occasional reports of them breaking has done it for me My girls also find the thinness of most NS bits a tad sharp.. Good job there's so much choice out there and we can choose what we need

Would your friend let you try before you buy?
They are nice bits and my old horse got on well with his sprenger rs dynamic (similar to the kk) although I wouldn't say it was a miracle bit in comparison with say a similar cheaper stainless steel lozenge bit of the same mouthpiece thickness. The Sprenger was a bit nicer, but if I am being honest probably not £100+ nicer.
