Spring Bank Hol weekend plans!

Super jeaous of going bareback swimming with the horse in Antigua, That sounds like a joke answer!! (What are you doing at Christmas? Flying on Santa's sleigh with all the Reindeer!). TOTALLY AWESOME. I hope there are pics!!

I've got my waterproof camera ready to go! A few hours after I get off the horse, I'm off to sea for six weeks (sailing a tall ship trans-Atlantic), so I'm getting my last horsey fix in. Not sure whether I'm going to miss my cat or my share horse most!

What an absolutely amazed experience - lucky you :) - do post lots of pics when you get back :) :)

Wow, now that is my kind of holiday... Seriously cool

I'm booked on a beach ride, followed by some bareback swimming, which I'm really looking forward to. And it's in Antigua, so no worries about whether the bank holiday weather will revert to type!

Wow, wow an wow again. You lucky beggar. Have fun, and make sure you post some pics for us all to drool over.

Good luck to everyone out and about.

MP -Good luck at your event, im sure you will win the judge of doom over eventually.

My daughter is having a go at a hunter trial tomorrow at smallwood . Keeping everything crossed all goes well for that.

On Monday im having a lesson with a dressage instructor. He was very complimentary on my ID girl last time, its me that needs kicking into shape

After my big horse trying to give us all a heart attack (spooked, trot on me and then jumped two five bar gates onto a main road ) last weekend, I’m hoping that this one will be relatively uneventful.

Raz is off to Morris on Saturday for BD. M76 this time - haven’t practiced as much as I’d have liked to due to having a full course of jumps up in the arena (can’t be bothered moving them all to put them back up again) so I’m hoping picking a few bits out today will be enough.

Hopefully have an arena hire booked for Monday and then we’re at a new venue for a lesson Tuesday. Trying to book a few more hires before we head down south for our first area festival in two weeks.

All horses bar one are back in work so I can finally start planning my summer.

Good luck to everyone out competing.

Pending any random acts of god I'm finally going to a driving trial this weekend. its only taken me 18 months! Lesson at the venue tomorrow to make sure Leo doesnt lose the plot, and then the driving trial is Sunday.

We ran into a tree the other day practising, so I'm just hoping we make it back in one piece! Luckily this event has obstacles that fall down if you hit them, which is good as I can see but not very well. I have no depth perception and cant see detail which might make obstacles a bit tricky to negotiate!

Off to a lesson this afternoon (really hoping the M25 isn't too horrendous :eek3: ). Have loads to work on and missed lesson last week due to lorry being off the road. Then hopefully off to BD music either tomorrow late afternoon or on Monday in the hope I can up my percentage on the music board. It's a new level to us and I keep throwing marks away with some silly mistakes, like my entrance which should be so simple but I keep timing incorrectly.

Good luck everyone and have fun!

We are off to a combined training comp on Sunday. Genuinely really excited! It's only an intro test and 50cm jumping, but the baby cob is coming on so well!

After 18months of no riding at all, I hopped in a friend’s horse last week to give her daughter a lead over some very small XC jumps.... and somehow have agreed to do an ODE tomorrow! Have ridden the horse twice more since then, but Im not convinced that counts as adequate prep! Walked the course today, and discovered somewhere along the line I’ve turned into a coward- I was very glad to meet someone else who also said she thought the fences were over-height as 70cm has never looked so big!

Crikey I haven't even managed to report on last weekend yet :eek3: No plans, I'm still recovering!

Sorry things are going well with ponies at the moment, TFF :( Fingers crossed things get better soon.

Good luck with the less evil judge MP! Wretched pony-ists.

Lots of exciting plans for people :D

<cough, cough>
Please note report of sassy ginger mare on a quest to steal people's balls is required.

Heading up t Burghley for the country fair for scurry driving this afternoon- staying until monday :) Cheeris first time actual camping so fingers crossed that's drama free!

Loads of people out and about. Good luck to all those competing! Cherry Blossom and ODE after no riding for 18momths sounds very brave!! In at the deep end.

Levrier, hope the Trakenher (Sp???) is uneventful. I don't much like them tbh!

Pippity your life sounds very glamorous and exciting! I guess we'll have to wait ao while for the bare-back swimming pics then!

Leo Walker I am so happy you are back out there after the dreadful time you've bad in recent months. Very best of luck in the driving trials but I guess just beiung there is very special in the circumstances.

Hope everyone else weekend is going better than ours . My daughter didn’t even get to the warm up let alone the class . She got on and within a couple of strides Finn exploded . She sat through quite a few broncs , but eventually came off . We never knew Finn had that much energy. She must have landed funny as she’s sprained her ankle. The people that saw it all agreed it was very odd , it was as though he had been stung . I checked him over , and he’s twitching a lot around his wither. Will get him checked over ASAP . He’s such a genuine chap , something has to be wrong .

Second ever BE tomorrow, excited although a little stressed! Luckily it’s super local compared to recent events which makes the whole thing seem a lot easier. Aim is to get round with confidence and a smile on our faces.

Then on Monday I am volunteering at said BE to explore things on the other side of the fence :)

Very! Pony was amazing today. Back tomorrow for the actual competition feeling slightly more prepared after today :biggrin3:

Hmm... was feeling quite positive about today as Raz was feeling lovely and soft when we warmed up. Then found out they were running 15 mins behind (gate steward told me they were running to time before I got on) so Raz ended up overcooked even with lots of walk/stretchy breaks as I’d done a quick initial warm up at home.

Test went wrong before we’d even started. Didn’t halt straight so put my leg on and he decided to go backwards. He broke into canter during the extended trot. He threw in a flying change after my second half pass after trying to bog off. He tried to bog off again coming into the second simple change and then halted when I asked for a half halt coming into the canter-walk transition.

So an abismal 50% and 2nd in section - the judge apparently commented that there would probably be lots of people who weren’t happy with their scores as she had scored harshly but to be fair, I wasn’t expecting a great score with so many mistakes.

On a more positive note, we finally cracked the halfpasses (yay).

Then, on the way home I got a phone call from my groom A to say that beau was very lame in walk when she took him out to lunge him. He was sound when I brought him in from his paddock so not quite sure what he’s done. He was definitely not comfortable but no sign of any cuts so hoping the two bute he had in his dinner will help.

Not a happy camper right now, especially with our area festival looming.
Hoping the baby fares a little bit better at her show tomorrow

Well I’m on a total high tonight! Despite the 18month sabbatical I had a total blast today 😄 I had to ride my dressage test with only one button done up under my tabard, as my post baby body is rather more endowed! Then I discovered that the combo of a horse who’s never done a dressage test and a rider who hasn’t don’t one in 9 years doesn’t go very well! A generous 36.5 penalties left us 14th after dressage.
Then onto SJ, where I misheard the time allowed so after watching a few people and taking note of their times I rode it like I was still in pony club- finished with a clear 8 seconds under the actual time allowed, which moved us up to joint 7th.
And to finish off, my friend’s lovely mare was massively forgiving of my sudden inability to see a stride, and flew around the XC course clear, which saw us finishing in 4th place, and me winning a lovely voucher to a spa- which my unfit body will definitely need after this!

I’d say I’ve well and truly re-caught the eventing bug!

Sorry to hear about your ponies Asha and BM:( Congrats to everyone having a good time - well done CB! :D

We had a mixed day yesterday, Kira is still struggling with the warm up arena after being mown down a few times last time we were at Summerhouse :( so she really didn't cope well yesterday and we had to exit and have a walk round the lorry park instead
So with a very very ropey warm up interspersed with small cob-explosions I didn't have high hopes for the test... we had plenty of little expensive mistakes just because she wasn't really focussed - jogged in the walk, broke in her trot extensions - but she did get 7s for the hard stuff and so we scrabbled 61% for 2nd place. Good enough :) that's her last qualifying score for the native champs in the autumn taken care of.

Next outing is for a lesson which will hopefully have another rider in the school with us, then next show is Allens Hill where there are 2 warm up arenas so hopefully have a couple of good experiences to help her chill out again.

I'm wiped out today, feet up on the sofa reading a book I reckon :D

Well done on your qualifying score milliepops - warm ups can be scary places!

We had a great jumping lesson today - grid work from trot working on my position over fences (I must look up, I must look up!!) Then we went from canter and my coach increased the height finishing on 95cm parallel and he made it feel easy and seemed to be thoroughly enjoying himself. M is so clever with his jumping, even on an awful stride, I just keep my leg on and he sorts it all out

Ouch, Asha. That sounds very frightening. Hope your daughter is ok and you figure out what happened.

That brilliant LW!! Good luck with the competition.

Well done Cherry Blossom! What a great re-entry into the world of eventing!!

Sunds like it wasn't your day Blood Magik but plenty of positives too and tomorrow is another day!!

I had a wonderful lesson on Amber. I have never known her so rideable and relaxed while jumping. Must be the heat! Very un-Amberish. Apart from the ballooning over the jumops which is pretty typical :D:D

That's the first lesson I have had since I was advised to send her away for training when I was at jump camp. Feeling much more confident now that I don't need to and we can make progress together.

Thanks wheels, MP, Ambers , daughter is ok , ankle a bit swollen but she will be fine in a couple of days. Finn seems to twitch when you touch his shoulders , so he must have pulled something. Hopefully we can get a physio out ASAP.

Wheels - love the sound of your lad , must be fab to have such a genuine jumper . What are your plans with him ?
Amber - crikey your ginge has a cracking pop !
Well done on your qualifier MP , that’s fabulous x

Well done everyone and hope the injured riders and horses are ok. We had a little clear round at the yard this morning in exchange for painting the stables. I have jumped the stolen pony in a couple of weeks and thought we would be rusty. He is such a legend and cruised round 90. Just got a bit forward through related distance and had it down. He is 8" taller and longer than mine girl and I sometimes forget a distance is never long for him 😂.
Please wish me luck for tomorrow as we are turning my girl out in a full size field 😯. She has been going out in an increasing pen for about 4 weeks after nearly 5 months box rest from tendon surgery. Field is quite grassy so hoping her stomach takes charge of her brain 🤞

He's just genuine full stop - I keep having to remind myself that he's only 5 as it would be so easy to get carried away and push him on too quickly. He really is a go anywhere, do anything type

This year and next we will do a bit of everything - he has got some good scores prelim dressage, is a brilliant fun hack, loves his jumping and the few times I've took him XC he has enjoyed that too. After that, who knows? Whatever we enjoy we will continue with.

I hope your physio gets Finn sorted

A few pics from the lesson and hopefully a couple of vids (if they work)
